“Mmm, I suppose we shall” they smirked a little, moving forward in the line as they got closer to the counter to order. “So does my potential lucrative friend have a name?”

“Psh, pshaw, duh, of course I do,” Judah said, blithering too much for it to be the complete truth. He quickly changed the subject. “When you find time, you totally should go over. It’s super cool. They should have a housewarming party and invite all of us. You should mention that to Theo the next time you see him. He’ll probably listen to you over me.” He grinned.

Callum raised a brow and shook their head at Judah’s response, “whatever you say, Judah” they chuckled. “I’ll see if I can go check it out this weekend. I don’t have anything to do before work. Are you just trying to have an excuse to get dressed up all nice?” 

“I think my preference is obvious,” Martha said with a sheepish smile. She watched him take a bite impatiently, wanting more for herself. She pushed the other closer to him, hoping he’d take the hint.

Callum glanced down with a spoonful of tutti frutti in their mouth to see the other cup of ice cream being pushed their way. They pressed their fingers against the side of it, pushing it back towards her with a grin.

“Oh? I’m the enemy now? And here I thought we were on our way to a lucrative friendship,” Reyna said with a smirk. “I’m not the sharing type, but I could be persuaded to perform a trade, if your offer is good enough.” She looked the other up and down slowly.

“If you’re going for that cinnamon apple muffin then you’ve been the enemy since you got in line.” Callum returned the smirk, “A trade you say” they raised a brow, “Maybe, but you don’t actually have what I want yet.”

“Limbo? You mean that really weird, super secret supernatural club?” Theo looked over at them then nodded. “Yeah, alright, I can do that for a few hours. Never know, I might pick some cute guy up whilst there.” He tutted at the move so just sat back. “Good, she’s a very nice girl, had a huge crush on me when we were growing up.”

“Yes, I mean that super secret supernatural club.” Callum smiled, “Exactly that’s the spirit” they gave an excited clap, “you know I could talk to the owner if you wanted to perform every once in a while. Wait, really? Well, now I need to know all the details.” they leaned forward a little, as if ready to hear a good story. 

“Well you know what they say, practice makes perfect.” Ruby did her best to push past the wave of melancholy that had washed over her. “I’d never turn down a drink. Especially from someone with such a cute face.”

“Well, good thing I picked this one out then” Callum smirked, as they headed over to the bar to order two drinks. “Though if there’s another face you prefer, I can do that too.” they said as they shifted to resemble a woman sat with a group of friends near the corner. 

Martha took the ice cream and skipped over to a table, moving to sit and going ahead and taking a bite out of both ice creams as she waited for them. She was too impatient to wait. They were both good, but the Tutti Frutti tasted best, so she dug into that one, already halfway done with it by the time Callum got back. “Oops,” she said with a sheepish smile, meekly pushing it across the table toward them. “Here you go.”

“So which one do you like better?” they asked with a grin. pulling the half eaten Tutti Frutti further towards them. They dipped the spoon in to take a bite of the remaining ice cream.

“I wish it was work, then I would actually know what my problem was. No it’s more of a… identity crisis?” She wasn’t sure if that was the right phrasing or not. “I had a moment or it should have been a moment but it didn’t turn into a moment which made me question a lot about myself because I thought I was one thing and now I’m wondering if I work that way at all because I don’t know if I can… feel anything.”

An identity crisis? That was definitely intriguing. “Do you mean anything as in you don’t know if you have feelings at all or just very specific kinds of feelings?” they asked, “cause those are two very different things.”

Ruby chuckled as she heard the song of choice, leaning against the piano. She listened silently until the lyrics filtered into her head and the smile fell from her face. It was stupid really. It wasn’t a song many would get emotional over, especially since it’s recent usage was for comical reasons but her own recollection of the lyrics made her chest feel tight. Keeping her eyes fixed on the piano she was quiet till they were done to which she then cleared her throat and smiled weakly. “You’re pretty talented.”

“Thanks, though it is one of my weaker talents” Callum said, their voice giving off a hint of annoyance at this fact. They closed the fallboard down over the keys, and gave the top of it a little tap and smile, before turning back to the woman. “May I buy you a drink?”

Nathan let out a drawn out sigh as he stirred his coffee.  “Nothing at all, and that’s the problem.  I had a few stories brewing that fell flat and now I feel like I’ve lost my touch.  Nothing seems to be jumping out at me.  The editor suggested I write a seasonal piece.  Me.  A UN journalist writing an article on the best summer hot spots.”  This is what his life had come to.

“Well the best summer hot spots are very important. How else are we supposed to know where to go and what to do?” Callum gave him a smirk and a wink, “What were you working on before? The ones that fell flat.”

Theo just chuckled a little, shaking his head as he was getting his arse beat at this. “I’m not sure.” he admitted, pondering some on what they could do. “I got nothing.. sorry.” Theo shot him a sheepish look. “Let’s just continue playing this even though you’re beating my arse. Have you met Martha yet?”

“You should come to Limbo tonight.” Callum suggested to their friend, “I’m performer for an hour, so you can come after that if you don’t want to witness my fabulous performances.” They smirked as they realize that they truly were kicking Theo’s arse at their current game of chess. “I have.” 

“Maybe a little but who doesn’t like a spa treatment now and again.” Not that she’d ever really been to one before. “Plus I really need something to help me relax. My stress and anxiety levels have been through the roof.”

“Exactly” they gave a little point and wink with a smile at the young woman. “Any particular reason for that? Something at work?”
