Dirt || Héloïse & Polly
Héloïse nodded. “I see.” She tried to keep her face neutral, but could not quite stop her eyes from widening when the leaf fell out of her hair. That was…lovely. Still, she should be polite. After all, at least this girl was aware of her intrusion and seemed to feel bad about it, which was more than could be said for at least half of the other students. And besides, gardening was a nice hobby, even if it wasn’t really Héloïse’s cup of tea.
“What were you gardening?” Héloïse asked, actually a little bit interested, albeit still somewhat grossed out by the girl’s dirt and stench.
Polly gave a small shrug. “Well usually I try to make sure that the garden is free of any kind of weed. Especially in spring. The amount of weeds I had to pull out today. I filled almost three baskets. And I was only halfway through the gardens then.” She really did hate weeds. Pesky little things.
“And after weeding the gardens I planted a couple of rose bushes.” She smiled as she thought of the small rose bushes. “They are going to grow into beautiful things I’m telling you. And when the roses are in bloom all that hard work will be worth it.”
