I rarely enjoy time with others. Alone is me, alone is what I have. I take the power others have to hurt me, and only I can hurt me now.

I’m constantly torn between needing independence and wanting friends. For the most part I can function so much better on my own. It’s like I relish being alone, but I suffer from feelings of loneliness.

Remember this also: it’s always easy to look back and see what we were, yesterday, ten years ago. It is hard to see what we are. If you can master that trick, you’ll get along.

Never make fun of someone’s passion because that’s the thing that saves them from the world.
