❛ ✶ ( SHAWN MENDES , CIS MAN , HE/HIM )  —  did you see CALEB WALSH around the house this morning ? i've heard some things about the TWENTY year old YOUTUBER . from what i know , they are worth SEVEN MILLION . they have been living in the house for 2 YEARS & they come across as + SOCIABLE but also - UNRELIABLE , which makes sense because on their instagram ( @CALEBWALSH ) it says they are a LIBRA . i usually hear KIDS by MGMT playing from their bedroom. they remind me of A GRIN AS SHARP AS A KNIFE, TRYING TO LIVE UP TO OTHER PEOPLE’S EXPECTATIONS, GOING TO PARTIES, ALWAYS OFFERING A HELPING HAND . ✶

she narrowed her eyes at him as he gave her his word . she’d expected it to be harder . “ even at 6 am ? on a monday ? ” she questioned , slowly raising one brow . he did kind of owe her but still . “ well yeah both of us kissed otherwise it would’t really make sense , caleb , ” she teases him , bumping her shoulder against his . “ i don’t know , we’re trying not to rush into anything you know . ” she tells him with a shrug before her eyes roll upon his words , “ i’m always happy … but yeah , it’s been nice . ” she admits , mirroring him and tilting her cup towards him . “ especially your matchmaking skills , you’re making me look like a rookie . ” she laughs , taking another sip of the milkshake . “ so , how’s eiley ? ” she ever so casually wonders .

“6am on a monday, 5am on a tuesday, hell, even 4am on a wednesday, literally whenever,” he responded to her inquiry, exaggerating his words to get his point across. “i know, i know,” he laughed as she bumped her shoulder against his. he nodded his head slowly while she explained her situation with wes, understanding where she was coming from. “no, yeah, totally ... i get it. and i’m sure it’s been real nice ... as for my matchmaking skills, it’s definitely a talent i’m proud of.” he chuckled, giving her a warm smile before sipping on his milkshake. he almost choked on his drink at the mention of the girl he’s been enamored of lately, and he had to clear his throat to regain his composure. “eiley? yeah, she’s good. actually saw her last night,” he told her, taking another sip of his milkshake in an attempt to play it cool. 

“bare necessities?! you mean one of the few solid bangers disney has ever produced? uh, yeah, i’m down for that being added to the playlist and i thank you graciously,” eiley replied with a hint of drama, then chuckling at herself for a moment. she didn’t know whether it was the relief of everything being okay that made her relax or if it was the result of just being plain tired from her long day at school. at caleb’s reassurance, eiley let out a soft sigh followed by a chuckle. “oh, man, you’ve only seen how she is for couple of hours. i can’t wait for you to experience a meltdown over absolutely nothing. last time it was because i wouldn’t leave her dolls naked like she wanted,” she explained with a laugh. as her child’s personality continued to develop, it felt like eiley had new funny stories daily. completely enveloped in the moment of caleb making her daughter have a giggle fest, when his eyes met hers again it triggered a small burst of butterflies in her stomach. it caught her off guard just slightly, but it wasn’t anything knew for eiley. “well, would you look at that, three people free for the rest of the night. sounds like fate wants us to all hang out,” she smirked. “however, if we left the planning up to catalina, we’d be on the road to disney world right now. not that she could actually voice that yet anyways. she only started saying key words like 4 months ago.” eiley paused for a moment to think about what they could do, index finger lightly tapping her upper lip, humming as her eyes darted around the room. “we could just go for a drive and figure it out as we go. what do you have in mind, walsh?”

“well, in that case ... you’re welcome,” he said smugly, more than pleased at her reaction. a hearty laugh escaped his mouth upon hearing the story about the little girl’s tantrum, clearly amused by the thought of an exasperated eiley trying to explain to a toddler why her dolls couldn’t be left naked. “oh my god, that’s gold. so how’d you finally get her to stop crying?” he asked her, genuinely curious. caleb couldn’t imagine being a parent at this age ( he could barely take care of himself ), so learning about and seeing how eiley was with catalina left him in awe. he knew it couldn’t have been easy being a mother and a college student at the same time, but she seemed to pull it off so gracefully. “gotta listen to fate,” he replied with a wink as he gave her a teasing grin. some days were less demanding than others and luckily for caleb, today was one of those days. he was all caught up with his school work, so it sounded quite appealing spending the rest of the evening with eiley and her adorable daughter. “hey, i’m with her on that,” crossing his arms over his chest, he glanced down at catalina. “disney world would be a lot of fun, wouldn’t it?” chuckling as he returned his gaze to eiley, he added with a smirk, “but we can always save that for a long weekend.” eyes remained on her as she looked around the room before coming to a conclusion, proposing that they go for a drive. nodding his head in agreement, caleb got up and offered her a hand to help her up. “c’mon, then. i say we head over to north point. sit by the river, get some fresh air ... how’s that sound?” he asked, wanting to make sure she actually liked the idea. “you wanna take your car or mine?” 

“ hey! “ she flinches, too tired to intercept the attack in time before the piece of paper hits her forehead. pulling the makeshift ball off the table, the edges of her lips twist into an exaggerated frown when he scolds her, but her look of disappointment is quickly replaced by a slight smirk when he finally decides to give her his undivided attention. “ some of us deserve a break too, don’t you think? “ she mimics him down to the playful lilt in his tone, casting the piece of paper aside before returning to her morning pick-me-up. but rather than taking another sip of her coffee, she instead finds the idea of merely swirling her straw around to be far more amusing, fingers wading the plastic through the mix of liquid and ice. “ so you weren’t listening then, ” she feigns anger, though the smug look that paints her features easily gives her act away. “ i think the only thing you should be concerned about is why the mattress in your dorm is like, a thousand times more comfortable than mine … i spent the whole night angry at how my bed just doesn’t compare, “ her faux despair is emphasized by her usual theatrical tone, using one last bit of energy to fake an eye roll before resting her chin on her free hand. “ i was gonna thank you for letting me crash when you got back from class, but i felt bad for overstaying my welcome. “

“ha ha, always the comedian,” he sarcastically responded, playfully rolling his eyes at her when she mocked him. though, she did have a point — study breaks were helpful and necessary. his hand reached for his own cup of coffee before bringing it up to his lips and taking a sip. the scorching liquid that was comfortably warm now made its way down his throat, the flavor exploding over his tongue. “huh? what do you m—” eyebrows furrowed together as he backtracked, trying to recollect the things that were said to him. “right, your nap,” he recalled with a quick nod of his head. his moment of clarity was short-lived when sav began to compare their mattresses, unaware of the fact that she’d been at his dorm the previous night let alone crashed there. “wait a second,” head tilted to the side, the confusion apparent on his face. “you slept over last night?” eyes widened as he registered what she was saying to him, her revelation taking him by surprise. normally, he wouldn’t have been so caught off guard; in fact, sav spending the night at his dorm had been a regular occurrence when she was still with luca. now that the two were broken up, it was the last thing he expected. scratching at the side of his face, he had to ask, “was luca there?” 

“ so does this mean you’ll come on runs with me then ? make room for snacks every day ? ” she questioned with a quick laugh making it seem like a joking question even if she was being serious . “ or maybe i’ll just have to ask wes … ” she said trying to lead caleb to the topic she was here to tell him about but honestly she couldn’t wait for him to catch on anymore and she weren’t sure whether he genuinely didn’t know or if he was playing dumb . “ i’m always excited to see you , what do you mean ? ” she tsked in feign offense , shooting him a bright smile when he actually got up to get her milkshake “ and they say chivalry is dead . ” she teased him as she took the milkshake , taking a deep breathe getting ready to tell him , but of course not without taking a long sip of the milkshake first . “ god it’s so good. — anyway , i kissed wes . well he kissed me too . what i’m trying to say is your job as wingman has been fullfilled and you’re free to cast your matchmaking skills on some other lucky victim . ”

"tell me when and where — i’ll be there,” he flashed her a bright grin as he gave her his word. he watched her take the longest sip of her beverage and he shook his head at her, fully aware she was only doing it to delay the process of telling him her news. but when she mentioned wes’ name, caleb finally understood. he knew the pair had been getting close, but only now were the exclusive details of their relationship being revealed to him, and he couldn’t be more thrilled for the both of them. “wait, for real?” he had to ask, although there was no reason why she’d lie. “so the both of you finally kissed ... about damn time,” he told her with a smug grin, his excitement about her news evident in his tone and expression. “what, you guys boyfriend girlfriend now, or?” he teased with a smirk. “i mean, whatever the situation, fran, you do seem happier these days, so ...” he tilted his cup towards her. “here’s to you and wes, and my immaculate matchmaking skills.”

        kaia smiles warmly as the door is opened and she is faced with caleb , taller than she was by some amount so she has to look up at him. that doesn’t stop her from reaching up to brush his damp locks from his face carefully before stepping into the room because she notes his concern and she’s trying to avoid exactly that. “ yeah!” she nods , finding his bed and sitting herself back onto it, crossing her legs in a yoga-like way as she sets the fruit down beside her. “ what do you mean ? everything is perfect , hunky dory. “ her smile wobbles a little so she bites down on it and looks at her fingertips. “ where’s the roomie ? “

“luca? he’s at band rehearsal,” he answered her question, closing the door behind him. he walked over to where she sat on his bed, plopping himself down next to her. although she had told him everything was fine, he could tell when something was off. plus, it wasn’t like he didn’t hear things; he’d read the stories of a certain musician. caleb had a feeling what was written in the tabloids contributed to her low-spirits, and he couldn’t help his concern for the girl. with a reassuring smile on his face, he put an arm around her shoulders and gave her a little squeeze. “you sure everything is perfect? you know you can talk to me, right?”
