Marsha struggles when it comes to romance and one of her ex-boyfriends, Jason, was a huge contributor to that. While Chase did have a hand in her insecurities when it came to romantic relationships, making her feel that the only reason people would be interested in her was because of her status as a princess. But Jason really screwed Marsha up.
Jason was not a good boyfriend. Jason, who was friends with Marsha at the time, took advantage of the falling out she had with Marceline over Ash to manipulate her enough into dating him. And as soon as he had his hooks in her, he treated Marsha like crap; being both emotionally and sometimes physically abusive. He would pressure her into things she didn't want to do. This is what led to Marsha's bad memories with consuming alcohol; as Jason forced her to partake in it at a party he pressured her to going to.
Jason was also extremely jealous of Damian, Marsha's twin brother who she was close to.
Then there was the cheating. Jason cheated on Marsha constantly and publicly. Pretty much all of the people they knew were aware that Jason was cheating on Marsha. Whenever, Marsha would confront him on it, Jason would turn it around on Marsha, implying that he could have any girl he wanted but he chose to date a half-breed, knowing how Marsha's human half was a deep insecurity of hers. While Sarah, Damian, and Veronica knew that Jason was the asshole here, others blamed Marsha for it. Maybe if she was a better girlfriend, Jason wouldn't need to be looking elsewhere.
But at the same time, Jason kept Marsha with him by routinely lovebombing her. This kind of trapped her in a similar situation she had with her dad: being snapped at one moment and showered with gifts and affection the next. And it worked for a time...up until Jason decided to kick Autumn.
Even though they're not together anymore, Jason has really scarred Marsha. Because of Jason, she believes that no one would love her. Not only that but even when she's in a relationship, she feels like she needs to be the perfect girlfriend or else her romantic interest are going to go find someone else.

Velvette is demiromantic, she has been in a lot of relationships over the centuries but for the most part those were people with big names that she could use for their status, not that she was actually interested in them much beyond aesthetic/sex appeal; usually ended by her dumping or ghosting the other person for "getting too clingy" (she would start showing interest in other women/full on cheating and leave when they rightfully got pissed)
