sypnosis: just when he thought he had the world on the palm on his hand, the person who he thought of as his wonderful world had to pass away.

he stares up at the sky with a smile on his face.

thanks to the traveler, kaeya's nation is now back to its glorious state– with the abyss now under his control, he can do whatever he desires as the crowned prince of khaneri'ah. he then decided; why not take revenge against the very thing that made his home turn to chaos and brink of extinction?

kaeya reminded himself to thank the tsaritsa and aether for bringing down celestia, giving him a chance to what he's been waiting for his entire life. though, it was quite a shame that teyvat is now suffering the way his homeland used to.

he watches mondstadt burn, the huge fire blazing through the city as with the other neighboring nations that are also in chaos.

"please!" a man, whose name kaeya recalls as reckless pallad, begs as he crawls towards kaeya's blood-stained boots with a feared look on his face. "i'm begging you, captain kaeya. please protect me!"

how unfortunate, kaeya thought to himself, looking down at the fragile man, still smiling. "worry not," he said, kneeling down at reckless pallad's level. "i'll make sure to put you out from your misery–"

"k-kaeya?"

the calvary captain paused his movements at the familiar voice, looking behind to see the love of his life: you.

ah yes, he was only here just to take you back to khaneri’ah.

"y/n, i've been looking all over for you," kaeya says, standing up from the ground with the panicked man being ignored. the captain could care less about what happened to teyvat, the only thing he cares is you.

"kaeya why... why is this happening?" you ask, slowly walking towards your lover as explosions and screams can be heard around you two. "please, i.. i wanna go home wit.. with you."

without another thought, kaeya wraps his arms around you. "i can get you out of here, y/n. we just need to go to khaneri'ah– that way, you'll be safe."

"khane.. khaneri'ah?"

he nods in response, pulling away from the hug to see your face. "yes, it's going to be our new home and.. and you'll get to be by my si–"

his heart drops when he notices blood coming out from your mouth.

"...new home, huh?" you speak, not realizing the horrified look your lover has. "i think... i think i like th–" you feel your legs failing you, causing you to fall down on his arms. "s-sorry, i tripped... again."

kaeya immediately examines your body, trying to find the source of your bruised state.

his eyes lands on a large hole by your abdomen, breath hitched at the brutal sight. "what happened to you?"

"just an ice abyss mage being a bi..." before you could finish your sentence, you started coughing out blood. "i'm sorry.. i.. i feel sleepy, is it okay if i take a rest?"

he shakes his head, gently placing your head on top of his lap. "no, no, no. i can't let you, y/n. please stay awake– for me." he says, intertwining his fingers with yours. he can't lose you, not when he's now bringing justice for his home.

was this a cruel punishment from celestia? was this the punishment he has to face for the sins he committed?

"you and i still have so much things we can do together. remember what we talked about last night? we can get married when we get to khaneri'ah, we can... we can settle down, have mini-you or me running around our home– or even have a picnic, just stay awake for me okay? do you hear me?" he shakily brought your hand up, kissing your knuckles.

your heart ached at the sight of your lover losing his calm, wanting to wipe away the tears that's falling from his beautiful eyes, but you felt too weak to do so.

was this really the end?

"i... i love y–" you went limp just before your last words could come out from your mouth, your chest no longer heaving: letting kaeya know that this was the end of your time.

as he watches the light in your eyes fading away, he slowly loses a part of his soul.
