So, Iâm Moving...
So, Iâm MovingâŚ
Sorry for the clickbait title, but what it says is true- Iâm moving. The shift is for my blog, and Iâm going self-hosted! This is a big step for me, as I want to take control of my website and switch things up.
Hence, everything looks topsy-turvy if you visit my site right now. Iâm even skipping on my blog post this week to set things up. But all of my previous posts are still available to read. đ

The Death of Personal Style on Social Media
The Death of Personal Style on Social Media
The title sounds so grave, almost like it declares itself aggressively as a national-level issue. Truth is, itâs one of those topics that leaves me a little unsettled at how different social media currently is. Today, I just want to address the fashion aspect of social media which Iâve been chewing on for some time now.
I remember the Instagram of 2014 and 2015, which was quite different fromâŚ

My Short Story.
So, posting this short story took a lot of overcoming my self-consciousness and doubts. Iâm going to give it a shot and post a short story I wrote a while back. I actually come from a journalism and creative writing background professionally, so writing is my art.
Iâm not vain or arrogant enough to say Iâm a flawless and uber talented writer, but I do try my best to get creative with words. IfâŚ

Hi guys, I hope youâre having a wonderful week so far!
I came here to make a quick announcement here. It took me a lot of guts and pushing past my anxiety to say this, but here it goes:

BLOGGER COLLAB #1: Are You A Shopping Addict?
A few days back, I had asked (read pleaded) bloggers to collaborate with me. I genuinely wanted to partner up with other writers, not because of getting more views and followers. Summer Mood Board.
Ah, weâre currently living it up in the season of the shining sun! Iâve written a winter mood board post before, where I let flow my tangible perceptions of the cold season. Summer brings with it a host of different sensations, textures and moods. So I decided to bring to life my cognizance of summer (ooh fancy) quite similarly to its colder clime version.

And no, I will never tell you to wake up at 5 am for âyour healthâ. #latemorningsforlife
I usually try not to be preachy and dole out advice on healthy habits et al, but I thought Iâd share what Iâve been doing. Baby steps at a time, Iâve been incorporating these five habits for a healthy-ish life, and I think I see some changes too.
No long rambling this time, so letâs dive straight in to five easy and practical habits for a healthier lifestyle.
#1- Water, ASAP.
Starting with the most overstated but also the truest healthy habit, is to get in as much water as you can. I know, your bladder feels like it is ready to burst and youâre feeling embarrassed going to the loo every 10 minutes. Been there, and err⌠still there.
When I read online that women need to drink 9 cups of water, I was shook. Thatâs 72 fluid ounces or 2.7 liters. This, of course, includes water in fruits and vegetables too. But I was barely getting half or less than that amount in! I immediately decided to change this, with a trip to a supermarket. :S
I bought a large and inviting drinking mason jar with a lid and straw, because hello, the kid in me likes shiny things okay. I have been trying to drink two full jars of water, which amounts to 64 oz. Then there is the food I eat which also has water in it, so I think I get in a decent amount of H2O (???).
A trick Iâve been using to drink more water is infusing it with holy basil. I grow the tiny plant in my backyard, from which I add about 3-4 leaves in my water along with ice cubes. It has a calming, minty taste which is perfect for summer and cools me down.
Some benefits of drinking a lot of water include- weight loss, clear skin (need me some of that), clean gut and more. BRB, getting that H2O in.
#2- Feed to flourish.
I have written about my body complexity countless times, and I donât want to bore you time and again. It instilled in me a fear of food, which I would say I love as much as my husband. I was afraid that eating bread, rice and potatoes would widen my girth. Oh, how foolish I was in avoiding the good carbs and instead eating a ton of processed crap because they were lower in carbs.
When vegan food entered the picture, my eating habits changed a lot. I now thrive on carbs in the form of bread, rice, potatoes, grains and lentils. I donât follow any diet anymore, and eat to satiety. There are days when I crave one food item more than the other, and I nourish my body with exactly that. Some days, I want a lot of tofu and protein-packed dishes. On other days, my body craves avocados and fat-fueled meals. I now follow ânourish to flourishâ as my food philosophy.
I eat dessert every night in the form of dark chocolate, because I know I would get cranky without my chocolate fix. If I deny myself whatever I wish to eat, I binge on food I donât really want and finally, reach for whatever I craved in the first place.
NOTE: Low-carb diets donât make sense to me personally, because I donât think the body can possibly say âOh no, I had 120g of carbs today, better get fatter!â. Itâs the calories that matter if youâre looking at weight loss or maintenance. But whoâs counting, anyway? đ
#3- Move a little for 4-5 days a week.
I wish I could be a gym-goer, but Iâm not. Iâm way too self-conscious to go to one and use the different equipment there. Since I like working out, I do it in the privacy of my home. But I know there are people who donât like exercise. No judgments here, because I used to be like that too.
The point is to get in light to moderate activity for at least 20 minutes a day. Break it down into different activities if you need to. Use apple âactivityâ or FitBit tracker to monitor your physical activity if you wish to, because it helps immensely.
If you donât want to exercise but still get some physical activity in, Iâve got some ideas:
Broom and mop the kitchen daily.
Empty and clean the fridge. Keep things a little out of your reach so that your arms get some movement while taking and replacing them. Bend a little while restocking your fridge, so that your legs get some-some too.
I cut vegetables standing, instead of slouching in a chair.
Clean the dishes in the sink as much as you can. Your arms will thank you later.
Get some excuse to move inside the home. If you live in a single-family home like me, use the stairs to fetch things one at a time. If you live in an apartment, walk around the building.
Clean the bathroom tub/shower space, mirrors, toilet bowl and other surfaces as often as you can. Trust me, itâs a full-body workout by itself.
If you do plan to exercise, thatâs fantastic! Try to do basic walking, bodyweight movements or any other form of physical exercise youâd enjoy. Dancing like a fool when no oneâs watching is, a great one to try. #guilty
#4- Good things in life are free (and paid)
Nothing naughty here, I swear. đ There are some things I truly enjoy about living here in the US, like the amazing outdoors to explore. Yes, it feeds into the previous point about moving around. But itâs also a little different, as I explain below.
Some free activities that are great for your body and soul alike are walking in a park, hitting hiking trails, swimming in the public pool, running or jogging outside, cycling along the beach, exploring a city by foot, etc. Take joy in finding out new places to visit and imprint yourself in, and donât forget to wear comfortable shoes.
But thereâs one paid activity that I bet we like at some point or the other- shopping. Going to the mall is not everyoneâs cuppa tea, but for health reasons, do it. Visit the nearest mall and start the exploring. Walk around, go into different shops and try out clothes, and treat yourself if you want to. The point of this is that you get in a lot of steps while enjoying the sights, workout your arms if you take on trying new clothes, and feel a little more connected to mankind by being around people.
#5- Prep in advance
Source: OMG Quotes
When youâre going out to aforementioned places or sightseeing, always try to carry homemade food. âBut I want to eat out, and Iâm really looking forward that!â- very valid response. Do dine out, but try to keep it to about two outside meals a week. When my husband and I go out on weekends, I try to carry food from home for lunching and snacking. Iâm sensitive to eating out frequently, and get stomach issues if I eat out more than two meals out consecutively.
And so when we travel, it is a meal of rice for lunch and some fruits to snack on later. We save some money, donât feel as bloated and do dine out one meal a week. If youâre trying to reduce dining out and increase meal prep, I have some tips I follow:
Think up a simple and super quick meal to whip up when going out. It should also last at least half a day out in the sun without spoiling.
This is the snack ratio I follow: 85% fruits, 15% chips or other goodies. Take a few bags to dispose fruit peel and trash in.
Cut vegetables ahead the previous night if youâre making something particular. It saves a lot of time and energy after waking up.
If you eat dairy, try to avoid or keep it to a bare minimum while traveling. It causes bloating and constipation in general, and more so while traveling.
Keep paper towels, plates and cutlery in the carryout bags the previous night. Trust me, we had to buy paper plates on a recent trip because *someone* was forgetful.

Five Easy & Realistic Healthy Habits To Do. And no, I will never tell you to wake up at 5 am for "your health". #latemorningsforlifeâŚ
Iâve never been a brow gal, until a few months back. I have done eyebrow threading just once in my life. I would meticulously research lipsticks, eyeliners and eyeshadows to enhance my god-given looks, but not the eyebrows. To me, they were just two hairy furrows on my face that didnât deserve any attention.
Curiously enough, I started looking at more pictures of âno makeupâ makeup pictures on Pinterest and Instagram. And they all seemingly had one thing in common- well groomed brows.
The Universe kicked me in the bum, and told me to start appreciating the beauty of a groomed brow situation. My eyebrows are naturally thick and slightly arched, so Iâve left them alone for the most of my life. Once I started paying more attention, I started trimming the arches and using brow products.
In the âdrugstore vs high endâ battle of the brows, the contenders are:
PRICE POINT:
Essence Make Me Brow in âBrownie Browsâ: $2.99
VS
Milk Makeup Kush Fiber Brow Gel in âGrindâ: $18
SHELF LIFE: 6 months each, which is the same for both products.
PRODUCT SIZE: Milk Brow Gel- 0.15 oz & Essence Brow Gel- 0.12 oz.
PERFORMANCE:
Essenceâs brow gel and Milkâs Kush brow gel have the same color, which is a cool-toned brown-black.
Both Milk Makeup & Essenceâs brow gels are cruelty-free and vegan. Milkâs Kush brow gel additionally has added cannabis oil, which conditions the hairs.
âKush brow gelâ has a smaller sized, conical wand with upper width and tapered ends. âMake me browâ has a longer, thinner wand with the same width from top to the end. Both the wands are good at product application, but Kush brow gelâs wand helped the product fuse with the brow hair for a better hold.
Kush Brow Gel
Make Me Brow Gel
The pigmentation is way better in Milkâs Kush brow gel, for which you need little product to get visibility in the first application itself. Essenceâs brow gel requires two to three coats for the color to show up well, but one layer alone will get you a naturally-tinted look.
Essence âBrownie Browsâ
Milk Makeup Kush Brow in âGrindâ
While Kush brow gel has a creamy application, Essenceâs formulation is a little on the liquid side. Because of the denser formula, I could feel Kush brow gel throughout the day. Essenceâs brow gel felt like I had nothing on my eyebrows, which in my opinion is better. If youâre looking for a lightweight brow gel, Essence would be a better option.
Milk Makeupâs Kush Fiber Brow Gel in âGRINDâ:
PROS:
High quality formulation and superb pigmentation. Think âva va voom, Cara Delevingneâ bold brows that photograph well.
It gives a lot of volume to the eyebrows, and makes them look plumper.
The wand of the product is so effective at evenly distributing the gel mix, without any bald patches left behind.
It fuses the fibers to the brows, with very long-lasting results and tamed brow at the end of the day.
CONS:
The expensive price point.
No mini-size option for trial.
Color limitation, with just three shades available.
Essence Make Me Brow Gel in âBROWNIE BROWSâ:
PROS:
Affordable price point at under $5.
Lightweight, natural looking finish.
Gives a neatly combed appearance and has a lasts for a few good hours.
CONS:
Not very pigmented and not enough volume.
Availability issues, since it goes out of stock a lot of times.
THE FINAL VERDICT:
To me, the winner is Milk Makeupâs Kush Fiber Brow Gel because of the value and the performance it delivers for the steep price point.
Essenceâs Make Me Brow Gel is a great contender and a brow gel option if youâre under a strict budget but are looking for a decent brow product.

Iâm not the best DIY person out here, but hey, I tried this one and it turned out just fine.
Iâve been seeing the straw bag pop up all over my Instagram and Pinterest feeds. Gorgeous, tanned women holding these simple and beautiful bags, looking like the picture of summer.
I searched for straw bags too, but somehow felt like buying one would be not the best for me because:
I have plenty of handbags already.
A straw bag is something I would use only for three summer months, and then it would gather dust in a corner.
Wait, $30+ for a straw bag?!?! Nope, Iâd rather save the moolah and keep it for a rainy day.
âBut the heart wants what it wantsâ, which Selena Gomez crooned, is very true. Somehow, my longing for a straw bag must have reached the Universe. Because lo and behold, I manifested a free jute bag during a recent trip to India. đ
I was quite happy toting this jute bag as is, but the *creative* person in me (where tho) wanted to give this a pretty little makeover. I had some fabric scraps lying around, from some random impulsive experiments I had tried a while back. When you put one and one together, you get a freebie turned into a prettier freebie.
Much like a fairy godmother gone bonkers, hereâs what I did to turn this rustic jute bag into a floral summer bag.
BEFORE-
AFTER-
 MATERIALS:
Long fabric scraps
Small scissors
Permanent Fabric Glue ( I used Beacon Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive)
A marker or pen
PROCEDURE:
Ensure that the fabric scraps are ironed or at least not wrinkled. Go over with a steamer/iron box to smooth it out.
Hold the fabric scrap again the bagâs width and mark the areas where you want to cover with the fabric with a pen/marker. Just put a small vertical hyphen where you want to start cutting from, and put the mark at the end of the fabric scrap.Â
With a small scissor, cut a little further away from the marked area. This will see to that any zig-zag cutting can be neatly trimmed and then used.
Use the glue in thin, horizontal lines along the fabric width. Glue the fabric along all sides to ensure a complete grip later and press it carefully along the bag.
If one scrap of fabric alone wonât cut it, itâs okay. Just cut the rest of the leftover scraps into small squares or rectangles. Envision where you want to co-ordinate the fabric placements. Only then, paste it neatly for a uniform look rather than mismatched patches.
Let it dry for about 30 minutes. Aaaaand, youâre done.
Iâve pretty much carried this bag everywhere- from the beach to the grocery store. Hereâs how I look with the piece de resistance đ
The fabric is holding on very, very well on the bag and has not come off so far. If you have any bags lying around that you want to give a makeover, try this DIY out.
I must say, I finally understand how Cher finally feels in Clueless now. đ
Easy, No Sew DIY Floral Summer Bag. I'm not the best DIY person out here, but hey, I tried this one and it turned out just fine.
Nostalgia.
Like a mellow drink moving slowly down my throat, the nostalgia weaves through me in pleasant waves. S is the warm blanket that I draw towards me when the present doesnât feel just as comforting. I continue to feel fuzzy as I encounter nostalgia several times in my life. A longing for times in the past, the sell-by date erased but the experiences for the keeping.
Nostalgia laced her fingersâŚ
