Not having grown up with them, cups have always seemed an inaccurate way to measure anything coarse: liquids, flour, sugar, no probs, but surely 1 cup of (say) whole almonds is going to be a smaller amount than 1 cup of ground almonds, because of the air spaces.

And then there’s the “pint’s a pound the world around” business… Imperial pints are bigger, 20 fl.oz rather than 16.

@dduane has a set of US Cups, and just for fun we also got a set of these amusing spoons. What I really want are measures for Some, A Bit and most important, Far Too Much.

But…I just noticed now: it has still a bit of red in it!! It’s the first time I notice, but it has these little details on the side and the American flag on the shoulder and THE FUCKING NAME TAG!!

Lemon Cottage Cheese Turnovers

Do you want to pamper your loved ones with delicious and fragrant homemade cakes? Today I will tell you how to quickly and simply prepare crispy puffs with a curd filling. We will use ready-made puff pastry, so we need minimum time to prepare the baking. Lemon zest gives cottage cheese filling a spicy citrus note, making the puffs especially tasty. If desired, pre-cooked raisins or other finely chopped dried fruits can be added to the curd filling.

Ingredients:

Puff pastry 1 kg Egg 2 pcs Cottage cheese 300 g Lemon 1 pcs Sugar 2-3 tbsp Ground cinnamon 0,25 tsp Vanillin - pinch Powdered sugar 1 tbsp

For 1-1,5 hours before the preparation begins, take the flaked, unleavoted dough from the freezing chamber, so that it will be defrosted and become elastic. In the meantime, prepare the filling for the puffs. Sift cottage cheese of medium fat content through a sieve to make the filling more tender and homogeneous. Then add sugar, zest of one lemon, vanillin and cinnamon for flavor to the curd. In order for the filling to keep the shape and not spread, add one chicken egg.

Thoroughly mix the filling so that all the ingredients are combined.

Roll defrosted puff pastry into a layer of 5 mm thick. Make from the dough square blanks with a side of 10 centimeters.

Connect the opposite edges of the square blank in such way that a triangle is obtained. With the help of a knife, make cuts from two sides, without cutting the dough to the end, as in the photo.

Unfold the blank. Separate chicken protein from the yolk. With the help of a culinary brush, grease the middle of the blank with chicken protein.

Bending the opposite edges of the dough, form a puff.

In the middle of each puff, lay out the curd filling.

Thus, form all the puffs. Of the indicated number of ingredients, I obtained 12 items. Put them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Lubricate the blanks with egg yolk mixed with a small amount of milk.

Put the puffs to the oven heated to 180 degrees. Bake them at an average level of about 20-25 minutes, so that they are completely baked and browned from above. Finished puffs with curd filling remove at once from a baking tray, cool a little and decorate with powdered sugar. Serve them with tea, coffee or cocoa.
