I have kind of a niche political view on tumblr, which is that I think misogyny is bad even when it’s just hurting women
and I don’t even think it needs to have a singular benefit for men for feminism and the abolition of patriarchy to be worthwhile
Being a trans woman means you arent allowed access to womanhood or the supposed good/positive masculinity often claimed by trans masc folks. This idealized and positive masculinity is one that is supposedly above all negative traits of masculinity and the patriarchy in society that influences it. Trans fems are conversely allowed only access to the negative aspects of masculinity as inherited from patriarchy. We are referred to as being male socialized whenever we do something negative. We are overshadowed in discussions about womanhood and our claims to it are seen as dubious at worst and partial at best. Trans fems are allowed neither womanhood or the idealized manhood that trans mascs are. Instead we are seen as men in disguise waiting to enact our underlying patriarchal socialization. While trans mascs are seen as forging a new masculinity/manhood. One that is both divorced from the patriarchal expressions of masculinity in our society and one that is inherently linked to an experience of "womanhood" and its associated oppressions.

i do think it's fascinating that i deliberately speak in hyperbole, which is a fairly common behavior on the internet, but because i am a trans girl the understanding people generally have for that suddenly evaporates and they have no goodwill whatsoever to read my words in anything but the worst faith and as completely literal
the internet that brought us "PC master race" apparently thinks i am 100% sincere when i say "kill all men," even without considering if that's a practical or realistic policy goal that i could meaningfully achieve. youtube comments and twitter replies the world over have turned "kill yourself" into a common, almost meaningless aphorism, but my bomb that kills all TMEs is frighteningly real, and must be called out as genocidal rhetoric for the good of the world
but to suggest transfems are held to a higher level of scrutiny than other social classes? ridiculous. don't you know we're all in this together?

Chris O'Neil housed Shadman and actively defended all the vile shit he did on twitter, including lolicon of real actual children. Why is nobody talking about this. Where is the anti oneyplays fan club. Or anti GameGrumps. Or (and this is a hot one) anti Dropout. Why is there only a hate club for the tranny. Why are the hate clubs only ever for the trannies? But of course, "DNI if you make it about her being trans, thats totally not why she became our target"
I would appreciate it if people reblogged this version that specifically calls out that none of the cis men in the same industry are held to the same standard even when they've done worse, continue to do worse and have not shown any sign of changing or regretting their past actions besides "I stopped saying the n word because people would get mad at me" and not because it's racist.

what little discussion there is about the history of the horror genre monstering trans women that isnt being done by trans women fails to acknowledge that it hasnt really stopped. two years ago we were having the exact same discussions about long legs. the fact that people occasionally, begrudgingly admit silence of the lambs is transmisogyistic doesnt mean much when the genre cant stop pulling the same shit. its evident that we have not reconciled with the way horror does this because it continues to get celebrated when for continuing to do it.
popular culture has not reconciled with the way it treats transfemininity as something to be reviled and feared. It continues to do this.
thats the thing right? the tweet says "reconciled" not "talked about". even if we took for granted that the paltry discussion of the subject deserved more credit than twitter op gives it, she did not say its never been discussed. she is not still technically wrong because conversation on the subject has happened because she did not say that it didnt. in response to "we havent dealth with this", it is a non sequitur to say "it has been talked about." thats not even getting into the the condescension based on age.

every single social media site i go on, the algorithm feeds me insults directed at trans women. at best it's other transfems doing a shitty mean girl routine to the girls they see as lesser, at worst it's nazis calling for us to be put in the camps. but the environment of apathy we've festered about transfems, that insults directed at us are acceptable and not worthy of the same level of scrutiny as attacks on anyone else, that's notable. it ought to change, dare i say!
i am 100% convinced that mobile phone/ social media bans for under 16s are an attempt to remove kids and teens from public life. this is not protecting kids this is locking them in houses with no escape from their abusers. the world is so hostile to teenagers rn
