just to answer these all in one hit: there’s a few things i’ve developed over the last few months/years in GMS2 that i’d like to create some tutorials for soon enough, it’s just been tough finding time to cover them in between my current workload. i’m thinking probably some video tutorials since some things can get pretty longwinded and hairy, and i don’t know if long blog posts are well suited for it. hopefully soon..

made this little submarine exploration game for a local event in February, should probably dig it out and upload sometime soon

early gif will probably delete l8r but it’s like a rhythm based game where you recruit a bunch of “friends” and then have to give them commands while taking their different personalities into account. the latter stuff still needs some work you get a certain amount of actions per turn based on your party size. mess up and your ‘friends’ will leave you - an empty party means it’s game over there’s still a bunch of stuff i need to figure out and balance. plus i’d like to link the gameplay to a sort of narrative later

Took a break from my Halloween project to set up this rhythm game prototype in Gamemaker today. Usually I’d stay far away from GMS for this kind of thing since its audio functions aren’t that great, but I was surprised I could manage to get this working as well as it does. Supports framerate-independent song tempos outside of the typical 60/120bpm, which is nice. I’ll probably use the codebase later in conjunction with another genre, like for an RPG battle system or something, idk

wip (witch in progress) i’m still a bit slow with my 3D workflow but I’m happy with how this girl turned out so far. need to spend some time rigging her up for the game now

hi - I’m only starting out with Unity but it’s definitely possible, there’s just a different process to go about it.In GameMaker I use a combination of surfaces and shaders for shapes+colours, and sinewaves+perlin noise for movement if necessary.I’m not sure what the equivalent of surfaces in Unity is, but you’re basically looking for something to act as a layer mask that only affects the layers in that group and not the rest of the screen, in the case of the healthbar example.Good luck!

Sidenote: I haven’t forgotten about my last post and the GMS tutorials I asked about - I just want to make sure I can make them as compact and understandable as possible before I post anything. Just hang tight :)

messed around with some persona 5 UI prototypey things this afternoon just to see if i could replicate the effects would people want tutorials/demos of this kind of stuff? it’s like intermediate gamemaker code involving shaders, surfaces, and triangle strips... let me know if that kind of thing would interest you i guess? idk 

Not sure if that’s going to be voted as the winning theme but I figured this would be a neat warm up tool to make anyway? Good for generating new ideas for weird side projects, anyway. If people are interested I might upload it later as a freebie thing.
