weekEnd
Lost in conversation, Insung returned the soft meow of the old yellow-eyed, shorthaired tortoiseshell, gingerly scratching behind her ears and on top of the head, the quiet, engine-like purring sending his entire hand along the catâs back.  Only peeling his gaze from the feline at a distant growl of discomfort, he turned to his sister, meeting her grumbling sloth like and careless pace with a knitted brow.  She snapped back into action, gently this time, albeit with a hard glare ahead, once she caught him frowning. Between her miserable state and all of the furballs, Insung was enjoying himself immensely, feeling positively childlike ( inside ) as he wound his way around the animals, gauging their reactions. Â
The chances of being struck by lightning seemed higher than running into a Caelum student on the weekend, Seoul was just massive enough to be lost in.  It was something of a shock then, spotting Park Jimin, 5th year, when Insung turned the corner for the next row of cages.  Their eyes crossed for a fraction of a moment, thoughts of sliding away unnoticed disintegrating with each step toward the young man. Â
âWhat are the odds?â Offering a genial smile to the pair Insung extended a hand to the young woman beside the student. âJo Insung.â Glancing between them he took a guess, âBrother and sister?â  Judging their reactions he supposed not.  Simple mistake; the bigger one would be pointing out any sort of resemblance between the pair.
âAre you two weekend volunteers here?â Â
If only to emphasize his cool factor Insung gave Jimin a thumbs up and exaggerated wink of approval once there was an opening.
It had been his motherâs idea to volunteer. Something about âwe rarely see you anymore, this will be a time to catch up and bondâ, she had said. Jimin couldnât deny the fact that he was somewhat disgruntled over having to wake up early on the weekend, but it meant he could spend the entire day with cats and he just couldnât say no to the look on his motherâs face anyway. Cats were always one of his most favourite animals, and heâd always begged his parents to have one but sadly his attempts at changing his parentsâ minds by excessive pouting had always failed.
It was a surprise, however, to not only see someone from Caelum but more specifically a teacher. Using his mother as somewhat of a human shield, Jimin hid his body slightly in hopes that the teacher wouldnât have noticed him and-- âoh great he saw meâ. A slight grimace appeared on Jiminâs face as he prayed for the older man not to talk about anything concerning school, particularly when his mother was around. His mother offered a friendly laugh, clearly not noticing her sonâs inner turmoil as she explained that they were actually mother and son.Â
âThis is our first time here.â Jimin piped up, not wanting the older man to think he was being rude; he was simply just feeling awkward. âCan I pet the cats?â
