trans and nonbinary equestrians exist! gay and lesbian equestrians exist! ace and aro equestrians exist, bi equestrians exist! I know lgbtq+ equestrians aren’t very visible, and I know that it seems like everyone else at the barn are cis straight women with boyfriends, and yeah it’s easy to feel left out. Like the equine world is not for you. but there are others who feel the exact same thing, and you have every right to be at a barn and I promise, your horse 100% doesn’t care about your orientation or gender.

So… I’m booking Rethy in for an XC comp, because his many times telling me he hates solid fences and galloping are not enough. What height are we going for you may be asking? 50cm. Watch my 17.2h anglo piddle around a course designed for shetlands (and probably be beaten by a seven year old on something that could wear his numnahs as a rug.
Hey that’s very responsible of you and there’s no shame in that! I personally hate when non-eventers try XC and jump the same height they do in their own discipline… It’s not safe if you don’t have experience running and jumping on grass and hills. Safe/effective XC riding position is different from jumpers/hunters/eq. And like solid fences are more dangerous obviously, and they can be intimidating to a horse that’s not used to them (along with ditches, water, banks, which are not always intuitive for horses).
Sorry I’m ranting but I think it’s cool you’re giving it a go but you’re being reasonable about it for your horse’s sake. Also I feel like eventers are the least judgy when it comes to fence height so just have fun!
Going Grand Prix on a downhill 15hh qh cross isn’t realistic but no one thinks it is. People should still be able to deck thier pony out in dressage gear and roll up to a schooling/rated show and and not get berated because because they don’t own a six figure warmblood. People are allowed to go the distance even if that distance is a few inches.
Horse lessons
Fast horses teach you to be brave
Slow horses teach you to be strong
Timid horses teach to be patient
Lame horses teach you to be kind
Spooky horses teach you to be humble
And any horse can teach you to be proud as an equestrian
That first gif - feels like you can actually touch the horse

looking to follow some more horse blogs run by folks who are fat, in the LGBT+ community, PoC, disabled, neurodivergent, or all of the above.
lookin’ for some folks to follow who might not necessarily fit your stereotypical Dover catalog mold.
lemme know if you’ve got any suggestions!
All proposed eventing rule changes for 2019 have been approved by the FEI General Assembly, which concluded today in Manama, Bahrain. The rule changes will come into effect on Jan. 1, 2019. While there are rule
plenty of changes for eventing ! 5* eventing is now a thing !
Hopefully Adelaide will be given special consideration with the 30 starters rule, there were 24 starters this year 🙄 and a friend of mine recently had a fall on XC and fractured her spine because the hackamore broke so I can understand that rule
I would have really liked to see more explicit definitions in regards to yellow carding for horse abuse. Yes, there are improvements, but I can definitely see more well-off professionals getting to slip through the cracks with bloodied horses.
Justify approving of his Breyer model.
That’s about right. From this Facebook page
So close
i love this

horse ppl r so wild my horse friend was like “this is jenny shes the gentlest horse around shes so chill” and then jenny the horse immediately gave her a concussion
Types of horse falls:
-the one where your horse bucks and you do a full 360 mid air before hitting the ground
-the one where you bail because things are just going…. badly
-the one where you desperately cling to your horse’s neck for several seconds, foolishly thinking you will be able to stay on, before, in fact, coming off
-the one where you mess up the take off and come off over a jump
-the one where your horse stops and you alone go flying over the jump (somehow have not experienced this yet)
-the one where your horse goes badly through a turn and you both go down together
-the one where your brain goes offline for a minute and you lose your balance doing something easy
Feel free to add more!
