I noticed browsing in the past that most By/er shippers don’t really ship anything hardcore that involves a woman, I saw a few of them even being anti Ronance (Nancy/Robin), which didn’t make sense to me at all, don’t they love gay ships? Oh wait - only when it involves 2 boys…there is definitely some truth to it (ironic especially considering the majority of shippers that I’ve seen are girls/women) but it varies from person to person, it’s not easy to answer because I don’t want to generalise and say all of them are being misogynistic but I honestly believe some of them aren’t even aware of their behaviour and that’s worse. By/er isn’t inherently misogynistic, it’s just a ship, the shippers behaviour towards El is misogynistic.

Eleven lied because she was embarrassed and ashamed, she thought Mike wouldn’t love her anymore because her powers were gone so she didn’t want to add on that she was being bullied, I honestly was angry at Will for not telling Mike sooner about the bullying aswell. As her brother he should’ve been trying to help, I would’ve just told Mike straight about how it’s going for her at school, El would’ve been upset but the entire situation at the roller rink would’ve been avoided if Mike knew she was her bully. But for plot reasons that had to happen aswell. It’s like they’re missing the point. Also lol yeah they say they love El but they never talk about her outside of shitting on Mileven

They act as if Mike is the love of Wills life, when Will just had a big crush on him, was he in love? Debatable, Will had strong feelings but I don’t believe he was in love. It’s the kind of “love” you feel before you are ever with someone (I don’t mean physically, I mean a real first relationship) it’s cute, angsty and it’s everything to you at the time but as you grow up you realise it was just a crush. Their “evidence” makes me laugh honestly, I wouldn’t mind so much if they didn’t actively bully others/name call etc. those who say opposing opinions. Mike and Will have a very strong friendship and I honestly see them like brothers, they care for each other so much, Mike cares for Will but it isn’t romantic, it’s true friendship and I wish some people could see that. Will also moved on in the end, which I’m glad about. I wish they’d shown him doing art or something though!

It’s true, they’re everywhere and they have no media literacy, despite that they think they’re the only ones who know the true meaning of the show, it’s a conspiracy theory they made up 😂 their harassment knows no bounds with some of the By/er shippers honestly, also do they not understand that when you post anything online anyone can come and say whatever they like about it? That’s how it works, but they act like everyone pointing things out to them is bullying them 🙄

Also Queer as Folk that came out in 1999 (UK version) and the US version in 2000, with many storylines of different varieties about gay life in America at the time that also didn’t shy away from explicit scenes. The show was very popular and went on for 5 seasons. Glee was major aswell for more mainstream PG audiences yes, there was more representation starting to happen in mainstream shows around that time. There are so many shows/movies with LGBT stories nowadays but no they want Will and Mike of course because the actors are their hyper fixations usually (or the characters). You’re absolutely right and the audience would’ve been mad if By/er happened I think because it would’ve came out of absolutely nowhere because Mike showed no interest in Will at all lol

No I don’t consider Mileven/By/er a love triangle because there would have to be reciprocation of feelings by Mike to Will and there was never a hint that was going to happen. This is the entire thing; the By/ers believe they were queerbaited because of them showing Wills feelings building over the years…but as you said an unrequited crush doesn’t create a love triangle and it also doesn’t mean it was bait
