Could you ever “go back” to monogamy?

An ex of mine (who is only my ex because we split up as he was going through a nasty divorce) just let me know that he is/has been seeing someone and is now monogamous again. He said that he “went back to what felt comfortable,” but missed polyamory. This is someone who talked about wanting to be with me once he was finished with his divorce. He has since moved on and...hm. Maybe I’m naive for thinking he’d still be interested, but it hurts to feel as though that chance with him is over.

Hello friends!

Not totally sure if anyone follows this blog anymore, but I’m going to start writing again. Try to start writing again? Let’s just see how it goes!

Since the last time I wrote, a lot has happened! I moved and now live in a much healthier living situation. I have a new job! The new job is wonderful! D and I are STILL together (four and a half years later!) and we are doing so well. Not really dating anyone else at the moment, but I have a FWB situation that has been around for a couple years. I see him once every four or five months and it works great for us! K and I are no longer friends. He and I attempted to be friends after breaking up, it was going okay...and then he ghosted me! Not ideal, but it showed me all I needed to know about him. I am still friends with his wife and her other husband, though, and that feels really cool.

I hope everyone is doing well! Not much else to say, but I hope to write more as time goes on. Take care!

Help!

Does anyone have any money management books/apps/resources that they like to use/absolutely swear by? A goal of mine for 2018 is to get my finances in order and eliminate a lot of my debt. Any help is so appreciated!

D and I have found ourselves in a "valley" as of late. We are arguing, more stressed out, and have settled into a routine of just checking in occasionally via text or phone call. The distance between us isn't too great - only 40 minutes door to door - but our work schedules keep us from seeing each other more than once each week. It's taking a toll - the last week has been difficult.

I would love to hear some suggestions of how you stay in touch and stay connected with partners you might not see that much. We have come up with video chatting - which feels obvious - but want other ways to stay connected. Also, how do you keep romance alive? A big concern of ours is falling into a routine and reaching a point in our relationship that feels stagnant.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, friends.

I’ve kept this blog at a distance for awhile now. My mental health has been a mess lately - there have been a lot more bad days than good - and I have had to take a second and remind myself that my care comes first. I as an individual come first. I love documenting things, writing entries, and being a part of the polyamory community on here, but I had to walk away for a bit. D and I have been going through some rough patches - it comes with the distance between us, I think - and I kept feeling compelled to write about every single thing going on between he and I. I made the decision to not post about all of that - not because I want to present a picture perfect idea of my relationship with him, but because sometimes writing about it does more harm for me than it does good. I needed to process privately. I think he and I are coming out on the other end of everything stronger and closer. Thank you all for being patient and for sticking around.

Out of curiosity, how do mental health and polyamory work together in your lives? Having multiple partners and interests and loves is so intriguing and exciting and so, so fulfilling, but I definitely need the reminder every once in awhile to step back and appreciate the relationship I have with myself. If that one isn’t working, none of the others will either. What do you all do to take care of yourselves? Self-care is so vital and I love hearing all the different ways that people treat and love themselves.

We are trying to be just friends, but we are already flirting with each other and...fuck. She just came out as polyamorous to me (which has been amazing to talk about and connect over) and she has definitely let me know that she is still attracted to me. I...well, I am definitely still attracted to her, too. This could be trouble, folks! Lots and lots of fun trouble.

I saw K last night for the first time in seven months. He's doing really well, we had a great time catching up...and it is ridiculously obvious that we miss one another. I called D after I saw K and talked with him about dinner, about how things went, and I left the conversation feeling more confused than I did when it started. There are still feelings for K there, but I'm not quite sure EXACTLY what they are and I sure as hell don't know what to do with them. It feels incredibly hard to write about polyamory when you haven't "felt" polyamorous in awhile. As much as I adore D, it's been a bit strange to only be dating him. I feel like that sounds awful. Ugh. There was a point in my poly where I was dating three or four people and it suited me incredibly well. This feels strange. I don't know how to get back into poly - I really have no better way of phrasing that - but I want to so badly.

Not poly related but sort of poly related because SEX!: Up until now, my preferred method of birth control has been condoms. I would like to explore other BC options, but feel overwhelmed at all of the choices! I have always been hesitant to use anything hormonal - I deal with hypertension and have read that hormonal BC can have a slight affect on that - but I have been researching a LOT and realizing that the pill could still be a viable option for me. IUDs are a popular option among my friends, but I'd rather explore my options with the pill before looking into an IUD. There are SO many options out there, but the pill and IUD are my top two. What methods of birth control do you all use? What has worked for you, not worked for you, what would you recommend, etc.? Any and all replies would be so appreciated!

Feeling very excited about the month of July. The end of May and all of June were...rough? Not terrible, I suppose, but life was stressful and I spent a lot of time feeling under the weather and, unfortunately, depressed. BUT! Things are looking up. My mental health is in a better spot, I'm past whatever crap has been keeping me sick and feeling like shit, and I have so much fun stuff planned for next month. Yin yoga this weekend, traveling to Toronto next week, two (!) tattoos in a couple weeks, a new haircut, and just a lot of happy, fun stuff to look forward to. I don't say this often, but I deserve it.

Are there any women out there who want to meet and fool around? I just spent way too long looking at beautiful women on Tumblr and now I am WAY too worked up. HELP. Seriously. Let's flirt. ;)

i love the term “partners” are we dating? are we robbing a bank? do we run a legal firm? are we the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies and are members of an elite squad known as the special victims unit? who knows.

A beautiful and fun conversation with D turned into something so sad and disappointing in a matter of seconds...and now I feel confused and kind of shitty and discouraged.
