One of the heartbreaking things about DID is feeling like you havenât actually lived a life due to amnesia. I know itâs not necessarily a bad thing and itâs for our protection but having a handful of half-second memories from the beginning to now that are super blurry and practically useless doesnât feel like having lived. They all feel like stories weâve been told our entire lives that we donât actually remember, we just know that they happened. All these snippets are sewn together end to end and thereâs no in between, it made time go by way too fast and now Iâm 23. Iâm going to blink and Iâll be 30. I donât know, itâs just bothering me more today sorry yâall
fight in the system? call that an alter-cation
i feel like something a lot of a ppl need to understand with DID is that itâs an extremely internal experience and, most of the time, isnât as clean-cut as it is portrayed. sometime switches can be simple and feel possessive, as one alter enters and one alter leaves, but in other times it can feel like the slow and swaying liquid inside of a lava lamp. everything can mesh together and cause even more dissociation/confusion as a reaction, leading to not knowing who is exactly fronting and even how many. every system is different, but this is always the worst for us.

Endos fuck off
fun fact: you do not need to know what alter is fronting right now. your friends do not need to know what alter is fronting right now. you do not need to proxy every single discord message or sign off every single post. if that helps your system, then great! but do not expect all systems to work the way yours does
host as a kid: Oh man, it's really easy for me to slip into character and become a whole different person! I even get lost in the character and truly believe I'm them. I even lose track of how long I've been pretending to be a character. This must mean I'm a gonna be a great actor when I grow up :)

no but ur literally the fucking transmeds of the system community. traumagenics arent the only valid form of system, its ableist to pretend otherwise
this is very funny and extremely incorrect. so let's start with the inaccurate comparison you chose, and many endos do.
being transgender is an identity. gender is a social construct, there's no "criteria" for being trans besides identifying with a different gender to the one you were assigned. "transgender" is an opt-in identifier. anyone can be trans.
"systems", or having alters, is not an identity. it's not something you can choose, it isn't something that happens at random or for no reason. you have an extreme misunderstanding of what alters are and why they develop. what an alter is, is a dissociated self-state with dissociative barriers. that's literally what alters are. the reason they develop is because, in a young child who's personality is still developing, their ego states don't integrate the way they're supposed to - and the combination of three factors is the only thing that causes this to happen;
the child must have a predisposition to dissociate, disorganised attachment to a primary caregiver, and chronic, repeated trauma. that's what DID is, that's how alters develop. alters do not just develop "naturally", they do not develop because someone wants alters, and someone following regular identity development (which usually happens around ages 7-10, and again, literally the only thing that disrupts this development is trauma + dissociation + disorganised attachment) cannot develop alters.
(once the personality integration has been disrupted, they can continue to develop alters at any age. but someone with an integrated personality cannot.)
don't you fucking dare compare me to truscum because i believe published, peer-reviewed research over anecdotal evidence. because i think it's awful that a "community" are literally treating a serious symptom of a traumagenic dissociative disorder like an identity.
i promise, with the decades of studies that have been poured into DID, trauma and dissociation, if it was possible to just randomly develop alters this would absolutely already be documented. step back from the endos and actually take a look at some published papers to get a better understanding of DID and specifically alters and why they develop. pluralwiki, tumblr, twitter, astreas web, and "the plural association", are not reputable or even remotely reliable sources. step back from wanting to have alters and understand that you're not an exception to everything learned in decades of psychology, trauma and dissociative studies.
and just in case this somehow went over your head, leave, unfollow me and don't send me anything else.
if any endos clown on this i'm gonna go ballistic btw. if you wanna argue, argue with actual psychologists and trauma/dissociation/developmental specialists about this. don't even bother with me. i'm not gonna try defend something i'm not an expert in, and if you're gonna clown and somehow think your argument is a good one, i'm sure the psychologists and dissociation/trauma specialists would love to hear it. if you're really really convinced of your standpoint this should be fine.
oh, and as a last addition, the burden of proof for endo's claims is on endos. no reliable studies support their claims. so you're the ones who have to bring proof to the table. people with DID/OSDD1 have decades of studies and research backing us up. you endos can be traced back to an extremely anti-psych anti-DID group online in the 90's. which, in case you didn't know, was within a group of people diagnosed with DID who thought they're better than others with DID who struggle. and also, ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE IS NOT PROOF.
in all seriousness it's very alienating knowing theres Something Wrong With You. like seeing your mental illness come through in your behaviour and thought processes and knowing it's irrational and unhealthy, knowing other people are reading you as weird or stupid, and not being able to do anything about it is such a lonely experience
