my take on how spider-woman (petra parker) allies react to her coming out:
gwen: trans herself, the first one petra tells that she's having gender thoughts. knew she was an egg for years and helped her along
aunt may: knew something was up since petra was three years old. only recently since petra moved out did she really start understanding the difference between gay and trans—she'd expected petra to come out as gay so it's a surprise, but they have a heartfelt dinner table conversation. doesn't mess up once
MJ: very perceptive and well-meaning, friends with gwen and knows a number of other trans women through the club scene but hasn't really fully grappled with the fact that petra might be. figures it out shortly after petra starts questioning, correctly guessed that she'd tell gwen first. confronts petra and forces it out of her leading to a rift where petra feels her privacy has been violated and mj feels petra doesn't trust her. it eventually works out but it's a tense few weeks
harry: gets really mad about it for reasons he doesn't fully understand
human torch: is completely normal about the whole thing
iceman: invites her to drag brunch with him and firestar (politely declined)
wolverine: awkwardly texts her like Hey Pete. Or should I say Petra. Laura told me you're a woman now. Everyone has to right to determine their own name and body. Doesn't matter if you're normal or trans-whatever. You're still one of the finest men I ever knew.
daredevil: nods and says to let him know if she needs help with name and gender marker change. has an internal monologue about justice
deadpool: makes an incredibly transphobic 4chanesque joke
JJJ: as always, his priorities remain unchanged.
