I think it's funny how Simone interprets Lottie as having resentment towards Shauna for the beating when it's obviously not the case. She even thinks it's part of the reason for her relationship with Callie, like it's a way to get back at Shauna.
I do think Simone does a great job in her portrayal, but it's part of the disconnect for me. More than the others I think she sort of made her version of Lottie her own, and it seems like she collaborates the least with her younger actress who tends to play and read her differently.

Interesting detail that Lottie seemingly taught them the "proper way" to slaughter animals.
Once they were catching animals in traps I imagine the girls were a bit squeamish about doing the deed, it being different from shooting something from afar. I wonder if Lottie demonstrated...
Lottie was the first kill an animal in an intimate way, after all. I think she felt the need to ensure the others were honoring the animal's sacrifice, and the gifts of the Wilderness.

I feel like people focus too much on what Lottie said to Shauna while she was giving birth when this was the look Tai gave her just for getting in Shauna's space/touching her - her reaction was more of a bewildered "wtf are you doing how have you not understood yet that SHE DOES NOT LIKE YOU!!!" lmao
It was also Tai correcting herself from earlier when she took Lottie's side after she made Shauna uncomfortable, now she is actively enforcing her boundaries for her.
This was specific to Lottie, Tai wasn't saying Shauna needed space generally but reminding Lottie that she wanted space from her.
Something I think is unfortunate about the editing here is that while Lottie is petting/stroking her Shauna actually tries weakly to bat her hand away -but the motion is kind of lost in the way its cut because it's inconsistent shot to shot.
