getting my spark back
This weekend I was finally able to sit down and spend a good amount of time on a lino print. Before I discovered fibre arts, I mostly drew/painted created more illustration-like art. I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil and it's still something I love to do. But I almost never do it anymore...
I think part of the reason is that knitting is a lot easier to do on the go. I bring my knitting to work every day and can knit a little in the train and on my lunch break. But also in the evening it's easier to grab your knitting when I'm sitting on the couch watching TV.
Another reason I'm drawing less is that after having made a bunch of pretty awesome drawings, i've set the bar really high for myself. It's difficult to allow myself to make just a silly little drawing.
So my goal for this year is to pick that up a bit, and luckily I managed to take some time today to make this print. I don't have any blue lino paint so I can't print it right now, but the test print looks nice! Lino print is fun that way, when you're making the print it can be easy to stress about making mistakes, but after printing it usually isn't so noticeable :)
