I wish someone would ask me what I think each of the TOS characters’ favourite musicals would be, and here they are:

Kirk’s would be West Side Story during the TV show but during the movies he’d move to Grease as his favourite, Spock would deliberately say his favourite musicals was something niche that was only ever performed twice but its actually just Phantom of the Opera, McCoy’s would NEVER listen to musicals, he’s a doctor not a theatre kid (its Mary Poppins), Uhura’s would be Little Shop Of Horrors, Sulu’s would be A Chorus Line, Chevov’s would be Avenue Q, Scotty’s would be Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (he gets very upset about the misogyny but he likes the songs and dancing), Janice Rand’s would be Wicked, and Chapel’s would be the Sound of Music

I learned how to do an invisible increase in knitting

I would talk about the costume and sound design for Dirty Dancing (1987) because the choice to use 80s music and have some of the characters dress like they’re from the 80s even though its set in the 60s is DELIBERATE and VERY CLEVER
