Caffeine has become my best friend. I need to finish reading The taming of the shrew asap so I can start working on my director’s notebook, but my math exploration is consuming me. Also I need to start working on my extended essay and my bio IA as well. Wish me luck.

{4•08•2016} 11:25am My bujo spread for the first week of August! On Friday, I fly from Stuttgart to Paris to Seattle to attend a gaming event with my boyfriend. When we come back we’re getting another kitty because our current only furchild is quite lonely and often spends hours trying to find another cat to play with. I can’t wait to go see my internet friends and indulge myself in amazing coffee! I’m also looking forward to starting Volkshochschule to learn German in September and make some new friends!
Have an amazing week guys! 🌱

Foolproof Guide to School Success!
Hi! I just finished my first year of college and I definitely have to credit the studyblr community for all the useful information and tips! I currently closed the year with a 4.0 and don’t plan on stopping!
In high school I was an ok student but I decided to change all that when I started college. So, whether you’re in high school or college, it’s never late to change and attain academic excellence! So here are my tips!
Try to get an early start on your day and sit closest to the front as possible. Studies show that sitting in the front of class will improve your grades and knowledge!
A study showed that those who sat in the front achieved an average of 80% while those in the middle achieved an average of 71.6% on their exams. And guess who did even worse.. unfortunately those in the back scored an average of 68.1%
Distractions are decreased because there’s no one sitting in front of you, just the lecture which basically forces you to pay attention.
This increases the likelihood of your professor getting to know you. Why is that important? Well, in an accounting course I once took, I sat in the front, attended extra tutoring sessions hosted by that instructor, and generally put in extra effort in the class. By the end of the semester everyone was really struggling, over 20 students flunked out, and even my tips weren’t getting me to that A I wanted. Well, because I had established who I was and that I was serious about the class, my instructor bumped my final course grade from an 88% to 93%! She said she noticed the effort I put in so she gave me the grade she thought I deserved
Seriously, sit in the front!!
Ok, now that you have a good spot in the class, make sure you take great notes! The Cornell notes system is great but do whatever works best for you.
Abbreviate often
Date your notes at the top so you can order them chronologically. This will make studying a breeze later on.
Find a color coding system that works for you. Highlight main ideas and vocab.
Find a notebook that works for you. I was lucky enough to score 20 moleskines at my local thrift store at 1 dollar a piece so I’ve been using those.
If you prefer loose leaf paper, buy a bunch and stick it into a flexible binder so you can organize and reorganize your paper.
Use post-its and sticky tabs to add extra info that you might have left out during class. Use sticky tabs to find certain notes faster.
These are some of my favorite note taking supplies:
These Pilot G-Tec pens are some of my favorite pens ever! They are super smooth and the lines are really fine. This 5 pack costs around $11 which is pretty affordable!
Mead notebooks are a classic staple. Seriously these are super durable!
These sticky post-it tab hybrids work really well for marking a page and highlighting important info.
Mildliners are really nice and the colors are not to bright. A pack runs around $7 and a 3 pack is $15 on Amazon.
If you want to go the extra mile, retyping up your notes is a great idea. That way your in class notes can be messy and it won’t matter since you’re going to type them up anyway. One Note is awesome for notes.
I developed my own system for deciding on how I will study and how often I will study. It goes something like this:
Rank your classes in order of difficulty into three sections:
Easy, medium, and hard….
Easy classes get one point
Medium classes get two points
Hard classes get three points
Is the class math related? ….. add 2 points
Is it science related? …… add 2 points
Is the class a subject that you struggle with? ….. add 3 points
is the class AP? ……… 3 points
Add up the points for each class.
Classes with 1-3 points:
these classes are generally easy and have an easy instructor, contain info you already know, etc.
These classes get 45 minutes a day in your schedule and minimal studying on weekends.
Classes with 4-8 points:
These classes might need some more effort so try to…
Set aside an hour a day and 30 minutes on weekends.
Classes with 9 points and up:
These classes are usually more intense, have daily assignments, have a strict instructor, etc.
Set 2 hours a day and an hour or more on weekends. Consider going to free tutoring provided by your school, join a study group, or go to your instructor’s office hours.
Plan your months, weeks, and days in advance! Keep a planner, calendar, or bullet journal. I personally use a bullet journal and keep a calendar printable in each binder I have for my classes.
Include due dates, exam dates, when your rentals are due, etc.
Look at it everyday!!! That way you won’t forget important events.
If you want to, make it pretty! Decorate it with stickers, pictures, polaroids, etc. to make it more personal.
If you prefer minimalism, keep a simple planner or bullet journal system.
If an electronic system works better for you, go for it! But I’ve noticed that writing it on paper works best!
Here are some great planners or journals to use:
Moleskines are always a great choice!
This hardcover Yoobi journal is comparable to the Moleskine and comes in pretty colors! The price is awesome, each one runs at $6!
Bando makes super pretty and trendy planners. They run from $20 and can get pricey though. It’s definitely worth it though!
This Sugar Paper gold polka dot planner is really cute and super affordable!
The AT-A-GLANCE planner has a monthly view and daily sections with plenty of room for writing in important dates and decorating with cute stuff!
Kikki K has amazing planners. If you want to splurge consider their stuff. I’ve always wanted one but it’s around the price of a textbook :(
While Studyblr has so many resources and tips, in case you haven’t noticed, a lot of the pretty pictures use muji pens, staedtler fineliners, and those cute lil’ backpacks. Remember that you have to use supplies that work with you. Here are the essentials to carry with you:
Notebooks and binders
A sturdy and comfy backpack. I use the Borealis backpack by The North Face on discount. Make sure it has comfortable straps, back support, enough room for all your stuff, and compartments for your food and water bottle.
A phone charger. Keep it in your backpack. My phone has died on me so many times and it sucks, especially if you have to take the bus. Invest in a portable charger.
Earbuds are a must, especially if you take public transportation. Also great for when you’re at the library, gym, etc.
As previously mentioned, a water bottle and FOOD! Pack a lunch but also have backup snacks like granola bars or nuts. You need food and water for energy.
Keep extra change. You never know when you need it!!
Your planner.
Pens, pencils, etc. Especially a stapler if you have homework that you regularly turn in!! Its really awk when someone doesn’t have a stapler and everyone in the class doesn’t either..
A laptop, seriously a must! Chromebooks are affordable!
Hope that’s helpful! Looking forward to another year in college and staying in the Studyblr community,
Thania

photos of my august spread taken from my studygram
1. Neosporin is really good for stretch marks. (for people who dislike them but always know that there’s nothing wrong with having stretchmarks!) 2. Clean rooms bring good energy. Open your blinds and turn some music on a get to work. You will feel great! 3. The first thing you should drink in the morning is water, nothing else. Try to drink three cups throughout the day. It not only helps you lose weight but clears your skin. 4. Sometimes you just have to read certain shit and not respond, not everybody deserves to hear your answers. 5. Face masks are great. Find whichever kind you think you’ll like best and put it on after you take a shower and just chill in bed. 6. Too much coconut oil clogs your pores. Use it wisely. 7. Going to bed at a decent time is cool. Don’t let your phone distract you, the earlier the sleep the more energy you’ll have the next. More sleep = more motivation to get your work done. just do it. 8. Naps are good and sometimes it’s okay to not do that one page of homework and call it quits to get rest. 9. If you hate just plain water and you can’t stand drinking it put lemons and other fruits in it. 10. Water with lemon cleans your system out nicely and makes you urine more. 11. Eight tracks is a good app for new music and playlist. If you haven’t used it try it. Music always makes things better. 12. Keep your private life to yourself or else you will have to face other people’s ugly comments. 13. Try to read at least 5 books this year or more, especially if you don’t like reading. Reading benefits you in many ways, you will be proud. 14. If you have the time to get chores or homework done then do it, don’t tell yourself you’ll do it later. 15. Invest in good bath products, soaps and bath bombs and bath oils. they will do your skin wonders. 16. Invest in good hair products too, make sure you buy things for your hair type. 17. If you want to have sex then have sex and do you, forget the comments. Bring your own condoms if you must. 18. Be friends with who you want to be friends with. You don’t have to be friend everybody. 19. Always stick up for yourself, but if you are wrong and you are being told so, take time to think and accept it. 20. Keep an extra pair of panties, pads/tampons, chapstick and headphones on you just in case. 21. Cranberry juice, yogurt, pineapples, apple juice and just natural sweet things in general.. eat it. I hope you catch my drift. 22. Mens shaving cream works better than woman’s, it makes you skin softer and hair stays gone longer. 23. Men’s razors provide a closer shave. Invest in them. 24. Buying lingerie or pretty undergarments in general will make you feel so much more confident. 25. Sometimes it’s good to just listen to people talk and let them talk for the sake of you not arguing and loosing brain cells. 26. Everybody should take a bath a few times out of the week or months. Baths open your pores and yes showers are cool but baths are A1. 27. Always put on lotion after you finish bathing too. You want your skin nice and smooth at all times. 28. Save your money. as soon as you get it the first thing you shouldn’t buy is food. buy things that will last and benefit you. 29. Mind your own business. Who cares about what the next person is doing? Just do you. 30. Organize your closet. 31. Always be nice to people who are always nice to you. 32. Compliment other people. It’s good to uplift anybody. If you think somebody’s shoes are cute just tell them. 33. Treat yourself to pasta and something nice to drink on Friday nights after a long week. Pasta makes everything better. 34. Just learn to love yourself and who you are as a person. 35. You have a right to feel whatever emotion you feel, don’t judge your emotions. 36. If you are sensitive and people bash you for it, don’t listen to their ignorant words. Sensitive people are usually emphatic. 37. Make a grocery list before you go shopping regardless of how lazy you are. 38. Take walks. If you feel bad and need to breathe, plug in your headphones and walk. They clear your mind. 39. Keep a journal and write in it whenever you feel as if you have nobody to speak to. It’s a good way to get rid of things inside. 40. If you’re confident and you think you are the shit then you keep doing that. Or fake it till you make it. 41. Embrace insults. If somebody calls you a name turn around and flip it. People hate to see you unbothered. 42. Try to use natural/organic and cruelty free skincare/haircare products. Limit nasty chemicals, it’s good for both you and the environment. 43. Greasy hair tips - stop touching it so much, buy dry hair shampoo, don’t wash it as much as you do already. 44. Don’t decide to not do what you want to do because of what the next person says. Stop following ugly motions and please yourself. 45. Spend less time in your phone and watch more tv. Staying on your phone all day isn’t good at all & it gives you peace at mind. 46. Grape seed. Oil removes most make up and is so much better for your face than other products. 47. When you know you’re fucking with somebody who isn’t right for you, stop wasting your time and delete them from your whole life. 48. Stop allowing the actions of other people get you winded up to the point where you have no self control. You are better than that. 49. To my loves with vaginas, STOP WASHING IT WITH SOAP. take a bath and soak, stop fucking with your ph levels. 50. If you have dark knees are elbows it’s probably dead skin. Try exfoliating and washing harder to get it away. 51. There’s this app called grid diary that lets you set up grids with questions, anything you want to ask to keep yourself on track. 52. Kat Von d lipstick is matte and blowjob proof. 53. Try and buy extra chapstick, gum, and small bottles of lotion on you just in case something comes up. Napkins too. 54. If you don’t have a lot of friends, please understand this. You don’t need a lot of friends to determine your value. 55. Have patience with yourself and take your time because none of us get better over night and it’s not a rush. 56. Don’t be a afraid to ask for help if you need it. If you are struggling with something it only dampens your mood.

me fall semester: wakes up at precisely 6am each morning, uses a planner, color codes notes, interacts with peers, has an overall positive outlook for the future
me spring semester: lying face down on the floor surrounded by overdue assignments, fiber one brownie crumbs stuck to my face, not sure if it's wednesday or sunday, waiting for the sweet release of death
