[LBP - LBsA] special DAY drop
707 - A Li'l Platformer by ruof
141 - The 2nd Li'l Platformer by ruof
Don't mind the weird numbering; i don't know why we never got around to archiving A Li'l Platformer back in the day, but we've finally gotten around to it now.
There's actually... not too much to say about either of these? Not in a bad way, they're just both really solid platformers that do their job well, wivout a tonne of big in-your-face wow moments. That being said, they both have a really nice look to them, the high angularity of the shaping works quite well here. i do think the first could have used a little more contrasting colour in its choices. All the materials are nice ones, but they smudge into each other a bit. The second does a better job in that regard, especially wiv the blue sky making all the wood pop a bit more.
Both of the levels are, most importantly, really fun to play. They keep a smooth flow, there's a nice variety to things, the challenge level is a bit on the easier side, but you don't really want every level to have you tearing your hair out.
Also, of major note, our own lovely chronos cites these as inspiration for his own A Simple Platformer, and you can definitely see and feel that when playing it.
So, yeah, they're not necessarily blazing new ground, but they are very fun, well put together examples of the genre, and i can get behind that for sure.

don't tell anyone, but it might be my birthday. i had a lovely morning watching horror shorts wiv a real good friend, and i'm going to be meeting another this afternoon. provided i don't melt on the way. it is very, very hots.
i did have the fridge kinda die, and then decide that really it wanted to stay alive, which was a deeply unfun bit of short term panic, and the weird (pejorative, read here uncomfortable) dreams continue. but both those things happened last night, so, officially, the birthday (if that's what it is!) remains unmarred.
