Barren trees that once told a story of life now tell one of death as the lifeless bodies of the innocent rest in them. Crimson taints the barren trees as they start to deteriorate. It pools onto the lifeless ground sucked of life. Children from this small village once running around now lay in their own pool of crimson. Once a beautiful town now nothing but ashes lay.

I’m unfamiliar with Nikolai’s character and about bsd but I wanted to write this for my friend so I might not accurately write his character or how the universe is soo my apologies 🫶

It was your 5th year of being a part of the Armed Detective Agency but yet due to you being in proximity to the book Nikolai has been lingering or following you around. It’s been going on for a while now that you’ve started being able to tell if he’s in disguise or not. Yet something about him is—captivating that you can’t seem to stop thinking about him. Your relationship has evolved as well as you become quite close but due to his manipulative nature you wonder if it’s truly genuine. He’s beginning to bring you gifts and calling you just to have the feeling of being with you.

Oh, how you desperately hope it’s not a facade but a genuine feeling it must be… However, with current circumstances you can’t afford to let your guard down. It’s useless dwindling on about your feelings rather focus on him requesting to meet with you at the Twilight Forest. Which is widely known for its beauty and also for its horrific legends. You decide not to bring your weapons because despite certain aspects of his personality you believe that it’s truly genuine. You exit the office and head to your car straight to Twilight Forest.

You arrive at your destination and as you walk from your car— he’s not here. You look around and wonder why isn’t he here? You check your phone to make sure its the right place and it is. “Hello, y/n” Nikolai calmly says to you from behind . A small scare as you weren’t expecting it. “Yeah, well would you like to explain why you wanted to see me,” you turn around to ask him. He seems hesitant to answer and starts to fidget a bit “Let’s… let’s discuss it later” Nikolai mutters “Excuse me, I didn’t quite catch what you said” you ask curiously about why he wanted to meet you. “I said…. Shall we?” Nikolai stumbles to respond. “We shall I guess” you respond as you extend a hand toward him to show the way into the forest.

Rumors about the beauty of the forest weren’t lies at all. The unique hues of the trees and the vibrant but yet sparse flowers that add a touch of comfort to the forest. It was truly beautiful. However, Nikolai led you to a cave… A CAVE. “Before you say anything… don’t judge a cave by its cover” He decided it was important to say before allowing you to enter. You thought the cave would look like… a cave but to your surprise Nikolai decorated the entire cave with your favorite characters and colors as well as a table filled with your favorite foods and desserts. Displays of figures… LIMITED figures that he got just for you. “Wow.. I-“ you were completely at a loss of words “Why would you do this Nikolai” you asked him. He grabbed your hands and looked at you in the eyes.. He was hesitant to say anything and instead he grabbed you for a hug.

Surprised you were still curious as to why he would do this. He held your hands and the expression on his face was calm but yet full of nervousness. “Truly at first I only thought of you as…I.. I thought of you as just a pawn that I could possibly use to achieve something. However, as I’ve grown closer to you… you’re more than a pawn in my eyes. You’re a beam of light or sunshine I don’t know, but I just feel at comfort near you. Previously I’ve done many things to manipulate you and those close to you. Now I can’t deny it anymore I’ve grown to…. To… love you… I love you.” He let out a deep sight after telling you his true motive. He looked at you earnestly hoping you would reciprocate his feelings. “ Nikolai, I understand your past wrongdoings cannot be forgiven but I know that after a while your actions started to become genuine… You’ve truly given me something to look forward to everyday… I love you Nikolai” You responded to him. He grabbed you in for a hug “I love you… I love you…” he muttered. After a few minutes of such a romantic embrace you say “Can I keep the figures..”
