I feel like Manny is so cool because he represents the part of WLF culture Abby cannot assimilate into. He’s people oriented: everyone knows him, he has a wide community, he’s friendly with everyone, and seems to naturally command the trust of people. Abby is almost the exact opposite. People in the WLF are not comfortable with her, she hasn’t made any connections, and doesnt seem to be loved at all. It’s why I feel like Abby can up and leave after a few days of hesitation, and I don’t think Manny would. (Not to say he would never leave the WLF, he just has much stronger roots. His tribe is the whole community and especially family, while Abby’s tribe is only family.)

On headcannons:

- smooth talks himself out of trouble constantly. Nobody can stay mad or argue with him. He would be really good at casual debating (not professional, I don’t think he would do enough research for that)

- because of his rank and skills, he was considered for organizing the truce between the WLF and Seraphites, but he expressed no interest in doing anything like that.

- kind of bad ears. He’s a firearms expert, soldier, and you KNOW he’s blasting music loud enough to draw every single infected in North America. He’s hitting people with the laugh and nod constantly

- loves old world entertainment. Games, animated movies, manga, etc etc. He’s tried to fix those old game boys with the scariest wiring known to man. It only works at a 45 degree angle pointing north.

- Justice is important to him, and he’s capable of keeping a level head in most situations. We see him pull Jordan off of beating up Ellie because she had nothing to do with their mission. He’s the one squads look for when determining punishments for failure, for breaking up fights, etc etc.

- would’ve been a car guy. I just know it.

- had they met and worked together, Manny would’ve loved ragebaiting Lev.

- would absolutely not listen during mission briefings. He locks in for the objectives and maybe 2 other things and then he’s drawing on the table. Everything in the field is done loosely in the instructions and improvised the rest of the way

- great storyteller. By which I mean every story he tells is maybe 20% truth. He’s definitely gotten in trouble with higher command for ‘exaggerating details’

- great gift giver. He’s got so many friends for a reason— he’s the kind of guy who remembers things you tell him. Yes, sometimes it’s for favors, but still.

I made young Abby’s bedroom in Inkarnate. :P

Abby grew up in salt lake city, and compared to most kids who were born post outbreak she had a life that was as close to “normal” as you could get.

Her bedroom was a converted hospital room, and it was adjacent to her father's room.

Unlike most kids who either had to share rooms with their parents or bunk with other orphans in barracks, Jerry’s importance and closeness with Marline afforded both of them certain luxuries like Abby being able to have an entire room for herself.

While Jerry's status as a doctor earned him protective status in any group he was a part of, (he was always a non-combatant) he was very aware of what the world was like outside, what being out there did to people/turned people into and wanted to raise Abby in a “normal” environment as posible.

So Baby Abby was very sheltered.

And while Jerry’s intentions were good, Sheltering Abby from most of the brutality of the world, meant that his death and the fireflies' disbanding was an earth-shattering event that changed Abby for the worse.

In one day she not only lost her family and her home, but also suffered a massive ego death and thrust into a world she was unprepared for.
