Right off the bat: HOLY SHIT The casting was so good and the actors did phenomenal jobs. I love that they casted Robert Bobroczkyi (he is a 7’7 man) and he did a wonderful job as playing the entity. He captured the creepy movements and horror very well to the point I was enjoying myself. The casting for Mary the Therapist couldn’t have been better. She showed true fear and made me sympathetic to her and her fear of being stuck in the backrooms. Clark’s actor did a wonderful job, wonderful portrayal of his mental state.

Going in, I wasn’t sure about what I was going to watch. I wasn’t sure how they could give it a plot, but they did and it was amazing. Basically in a long summary Clark is the owner of a furniture store whose wife had kicked him out. He hates everything and blames everyone but himself for everything. One night the power starts tweaking and he goes to fix it, just to see something in the wall. He investigates just enough to go into the Backrooms. He explores for a bit but hears scary noises and leaves. He tells his therapist, Mary, about this and she doesn’t believe him. Clark is determined to get proof and convinces his two employees, Bobby and Kat, to go with him.

Bobby is excited and is the camera man and Kat doesn’t want to and is scared but Bobby convinced her. They go in and find a small passage that is very steep. They tie Bobby to a rope and put him down to look with the camera; for him to hear something terrifying and get scared and panic. They get him up but as he is still tied the thing down there tries to pull him down and succeed. Clark and Kat are also pulled just to see a thing of blood (Bobbys) as the entity carries him away, dead. It is unclear what happens next, Clark runs away, scared, and then ends up in a room. Kats screams for him to let her into the room are heard and he can’t figure out what’s happening. The camera is lifted by the entity and it cuts. Mary, being concerned because it has been weeks since Clark as showed up to therapy, comes to investigate the store. She finds and goes into the Backrooms. She finds Clark and he knocks her out and she wakes up at a table. With her is Clark and a few other entities just sitting there. Clark explains things to her and shows her that the entities don’t care about anything and starts taking one of their insides and eating them. She is scared and tries to get him to let her go. He explains everything there is a copy of what once was and it’s just distorted. He cuts the hair off of his ex-wife’s entity and makes her wear it before roleplaying with her and screaming at her. She finally snaps and tells him that she is the problem. Then, the main entity walks in. It’s a deformed and terrifying version of Clark. Clark obviously had known this entity and speaks to it as if they were friends. The entity picks Clark up and eats him alive. Mary runs out and gets chased down by Not!Clark and finally gets out and rescued by scientists in the Backrooms. The movie ends.

The movie is wonderful from symbolism to details.

First to answer the question most people had; why did Not!Clark kill Clark randomly after it was proved they had known each other?

Clark had this mindset that he was innocent but everyone else was awful. Everything in the Backrooms is a distorted version of everything in the real world. Not!Clark had the mindset that Clark is innocent and everyone else had to die. So he didn’t mind Clark UNTIL Mary called him out on Clark’s bs and Clark realizes he is a bad person. Not!Clark also learns this and his mindset changes and he needs to kill Clark now.

Then! The logic of the backrooms in the movie is SO GOOD! Basically everything is a memory of the real world. But as memories do, over time it becomes not what it was and disorients and becomes something else. That’s the Backrooms. There is things there that once or do exist but aren’t the same anymore.

The facts:

The set of the Backrooms movie is 30,000 feet. Crazy right?

They included the actual creator of the Backrooms into this which made it so much better

They listened a lot to the fans and made the move really good and enjoyable.

Also they showed the original image and that was a fun detail to point out.

I would rate this movie a 10/10 overall.

Casting: 10/10

Full Plot: 8/10

Logic: 9/10

Gore effect: 10/10
