BTS’s “Dynamite” made an explosive debut on Billboard’s Hot 100, taking the top spot! Billboard has announced the top 10 on its Hot 100 for the week ending in September 5, with the chart ranking the most popular songs in the United States across all genres based on streaming, radio airplay, and sales data. BTS’s new English-language track “Dynamite” has entered the chart at No. 1! This is the highest ranking on the chart achieved by a Korean artist, breaking the record set by PSY’s “Gangnam Style” that peaked at No. 2 in 2012. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, “Dynamite” achieved 33.9 million U.S. streams and 300,000 sales in its first week, which ended on August 27. It gained 11.6 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week that ended on August 30. “Dynamite” also reached 256,000 downloads sold in its first week, with overall first-week total sales of 300,000 including vinyl and cassette physical versions. BTS’s preview title track “ON” debuted on the Hot 100 in March at No. 4, achieving their highest ranking at the time and the highest score for a Korean group. “Dynamite” also takes No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week and No. 3 on the Streaming Songs chart. Billboard will update its website with this week’s charts on September 1. BTS performed “Dynamite” for the first time on the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on August 30 and swept all the awards they were nominated for, earning four trophies in total including Best Pop.
