I don’t count the ones before this one because those only debuted at #1 because billboard changed their rules. This song debuting at #1 was natural.

I find it funny that the actual first #1 debut is a song about threesums by lobotomised Britney Spears in 2009

POPULAR MUSIC IS DEAD‼️

People have been saying this since popular music as a concept was a thing but i think it’s actually real now. We’re not talking about the quality of songs but their actual popularity. There really isn’t a pop culture anymore. Everyone just does their own thing and then sometimes one of those things becomes well known.

Also this:

These songs are all well over a decade old and are outselling everything underneath it. No one wants new music anymore. Country is only dominating the charts because society is going backwards. There’s no more break out stars or sleeper hits or modern pop classics or really anything. No one cares about this kinda stuff anymore.

This is even with Billboard’s new recurrency rules. Taking that into account, this year is worse than last year. Last year was considered the least year for popular music ever. Not the worst (it was really bad quality wise too) because there were really no hits.

I miss the streaming era and the club boom!

It’s just more recovery from Drake’s triple album bomb. I listened to all three of them (I have no life). There’s only 2 songs with giving a fuck about and of course they dropped significantly. This year’s been SO much better than 2025 but is that really saying much? Stuff is kinda happening but who cares? There aren’t any songs that really rooting for. Except Stateside but it got into the 5 and is gonna make the year end. There’s 4 new arrivals.

It’s been a great year (or alot better than usual) for women in country. This has been mostly a good thing but then you get fuckin Stella Lefty. I hate her and that’s all im gonna say. Latto’s also had a weirdly good year. She hasn’t had any hits but she’s charted alot. If only she was more interesting. It’s just been great for country in general the past 3 years. This is a bad thing.
