This morning I had a simple idea for a children's story... tonight I have a bunch of illustrations and 3 children's stories drafted up to go with them!
It's been a very productive and rewarding friday!
productivity doesnāt define your worth. sometimes all you can do is exist and thatās plenty.

I have just spent the last 3 hours researching historical gift traditions for my wip novel/novella. I have learnt so much, this is one of the reasons I love writing... you learn so much through the story research and it can be so interesting!
I might have only written 1000-1500 words today but with the research I did, iām really happy with that!
My eyes struggle to open as I wake up, a glorious sunbeam bathing my body in light, makes my eyes water in the battle to open them.
The beam of light spreads a warmth through me as I stretch out, accidentally nudging Trunks off the basic bed with my foot in the process.
Trunks huffs at me after recovering from the shock, then proceeds to lick the hand that Alex has dangling over the edge of the mattress.
I revel in moments like this, peaceful and innocent at the core, make this place feel like a real home.
Alex shifts in his sleep, his dreams disturbed by Trunks licking activities. Silently wishing I could stay here in the warmth of the sun and Alex; I begrudgingly leave the bed and get dressed.

Non-advice for writers
I keep seeing the same advice for writers everywhere and it sucks.
People are always saying "set a word count goal per session" "don't edit until you've finished the draft"
How about we stop rehashing the same, tired, old advice? We've all heard that crap before and it's not helpful for so many of us.
Here's my advice for fellow writers: find out what works for you. TRY setting goals, if it works great, if you get overwhelmed then try being more free. Edit as you go along if you feel like it OR wait until the draft is finished.
Basically, follow your own path, only you know what works for you.
Some days I'll write pages upon pages, some days I'll write 2 or 3 paragraphs. If I try to force myself into keeping up with a word count goal, I get terribly overwhelmed.
STOP LISTENING TO EVERYONE ELSE, LISTEN TO YOURSELF. FIND YOUR OWN WAY.
So there, my 2 cents for the day:)
Weād both agreed to a quiet, private wedding. Just me, Luke, and Willem, the guy Luke shares his body with.
Willem knew a friend who owned a beachfront villa in Tuscany, so we decided weād get married on the balcony overlooking the sea. Kind of like royals greeting the crabs and clamshells. Thatās what I said to Luke to win him over on the whole wedding plan. Heās a sucker for imagination.
As usual, getting through immigration proved to be a mess. Willem and Luke both had to go through extensive ID checks because the Italian officials werenāt all that caught up with co-hosted bodies. It took us a couple of hours, but I imagine it couldāve been worse.
On the drive to the villa, we rented an open-top Ferrari: a final indulgence from Willemās friend. It even had a note on the dashboard wishing us a āgloriousā wedding. Willem turned the note over and snickered at what it said. I caught a glimpse before he hid the note. It said āWillem, youāre the real winner! ;)ā
It left a bitter taste in my mouth through the drive, and Willem and Luke both noticed. I didnāt want to let on that I stole a glance at the note, but I didnāt want to pretend I was happy, either. Luke never liked it when I pretended to be happy. As for WillemāI donāt think he cared.
The villa looked old, like it was made the mid-20th century. Getting to it was pleasant, and the villagers looked happy to see us. Or maybe they were happy to see the car. Either way, it was a sunny afternoon when we arrived, and the smell of the sea was intoxicating, and the clouds were bright just like in the movies.
That night, I wondered if maybe we could evict Willem from Lukeās body. There was no way to ask Luke this without Willem listening, so I just ran through the conversation in my head instead.
Luke would probably insist that it wasnāt his body anymore, it was a shared body. Iād ask if maybe they could just consider it, regardless of the semantics. Willem would listen, quietly, attentively, like a panther preparing to pounce. Luke would probably dismiss the notion. āItās worked out so far,ā heād say. āAnd besides, this is how you know me. This is how we fell in love and decided weād get married in the first place. If you evict Willem, then weāre not the same anymore, do you understand?ā
He hadnāt said any of that. And yet, in my mind, he had.
While we sat by the fireplace, both of us reading books, I stole a glance at him. Someoneāeither Luke or Willemāglanced back at me and smiled.
The day of the wedding was thankfully free of too many clouds. The sun looked so welcoming, it made me recall Greek myths of Helios. Heād stopped his chariot for us, to bless us with his warmth. The sea was loud enough to fill all of our silences. The balcony was just large enough for two.
āI love you,ā he said.
āI love you,ā I said.
āThis is the part where we put the rings on, right?ā he laughed.
This drew me in so quickly.
Educate yourself. When a question about a certain topic pops up, google it. Watch movies and documentaries. When something sparks your interest, read about it. Read read read. Study, learn, stimulate your brain. Donāt just rely on the school system, educate that beautiful mind of yours.
