I can't believe there aren't screencaps of that insane S2 finale sequence with Li Tianxi's memories and the photography film covering her eyes and her mouth. Love for my girl aside, the animation went crazy there so I'm kind of surprised I don't see screenshots or clips of it more
Y’know to me, the most heartbreaking thing about Lu Guang looping to save Cheng Xiaoshi isn’t even watching him die over and over.
It’s restarting their relationship from square one.
The biggest tragedy of all this is regardless if he accepts CXS’ death or dives into another photo, the CXS he spent that timeline with is gone. Just for the slim chance of saving him all those years, all that history together has to be erased. Imagine spending five years with someone, going to the same schools, sharing sleepovers and being roommates. Going for late night walks, offering to cook dinner since it’s their turn, being the most vulnerable with you, opening up about their biggest fears and trauma.
And in a blink, you meet them again and they’re asking what’s your favorite color.
Huge shoutouts to the Time Photo Studio family for being one of my favorite found family dynamics of all time. Siblings Of Choice Plus This Random Guy They Grabbed Off The Street you will always be famous.
One of the things I love about Link Click is how it hurts you in completely unexpected ways.
Like, you'll hear about how it'll mess you up before you go in, so you're expecting some trauma, and you watch the first episode, and maybe it hurts, and even if it doesn't, as the next few episodes play out, you can see how others might describe it as painful.
And then the plot kicks in. You think it's gonna kick in at one place, but no. You know when it kicks in. You do not miss it, because now things are different and they weigh differently on the characters and the viewers. And just when you think you have a grasp on that, they pull the rug out from under you such that season 1 ends with you screaming at the screen.
And then season 2 gets going and you realize the story is playing on a whole different level than you originally thought. And then you gradually realize that it's always been playing on this level and you're only just now in a place to recognize it. And by the end of season 2, you're questioning everything you thought you knew about what's going on.
And then you watch the Bridon arc. And now you have to question so many more things.
And in between all of that, it's still telling you stories that are designed to dig into you and find all your pains and griefs and bring them up to the surface. And when they're there and laid out all raw and broken, it gently embraces you and acknowledges your suffering and struggle. It doesn't offer platitudes. It just holds you as you ugly cry as it reminds you that you're not wrong or crazy for thinking these things hurt so much, and you are not alone.

Absolutely loving Link Click because the body horror implications are INSANE. Cheng Xiaoshi doesn't just jump into people's bodies, he fully disappears and ceases to exist when he's using his powers. He physically brings his eyes back with him (see him struggling when he jumped to someone who wore glasses) but seemingly every other part of the body is just the original. It will react the way the original reacted. Get flooded with endorphins and adrenaline just like the original. Experience pain. Experience attraction. Experience panic attacks. Man is forced to face both the realities of being pinned beneath someone as they slowly die then waiting four hours for rescue AND the freeing sensation of kicking off heels after a 10 hour shift. He falls asleep and dreams the dreams of his hosts which you would think is a fully cerebral part of the human body and thus wouldn't apply to his powers but you'd be wrong. This leads to several scenes where Cheng Xiaoshi remembers memories of the host body but overlays himself into flashbacks like it happened to him instead. Also all of this is backed by 24/7 commentary of a guy who loves him but cannot meaningfully affect anything happening. 10/10 the vibe of this show is impeccable.
Past or future, just let them be.
Link Click POV shift is fucking insane. Like what do you mean we spend the first two seasons with:
Cheng Xiaoshi: I know times get bad, and we've been in some rough scrapes, but I earnestly believe that if I just hope and try my hardest then I can keep the people I care about safe!
And then the second we flip the camera it's
Lu Guang: I have severe ptsd. I lie to my best friends near constantly. Every day I wake up and wonder if everyone I've ever cared about has died in the handful of seconds I took my eyes off them. None of us can do anything and are just fragile creatures in the push and pull of an uncaring universe. It's fine.
an ache so heavy
Link Click absolutely insane btw wow everything was so crazy
