hoobler is so fascinating because in both carentan & replacements you really see him take on a leadership role—he's volunteering for stuff, people are looking to him... and it's such a stark difference from the almost childlike glee and excitement he gets every time the prospect of a luger comes around (with the british soldier in ep1; "my luger's gonna put you all to shame when i get it!"; when he does finally get it and wants to show it off)... it's a contrast i totally missed the last time i watched the show
