I stitched these earlier this year, but just got around to finishing them today. These, together with a straw fan and a tiny sombrero, will announce my love of tacos to all who enter my kitchen.
The round one is from LaHooplaCo on Etsy. It is stitched on 14 count aida and finished in a 5" bamboo hoop. I painted the hoop purple with a Posca paint pen. The other is from Stitchy Little Fox on Etsy. I finished it in a frame I found at a local thrift shop. I used the Posca pens to paint it the colors of the Mexican flag.
I'm excited to see how my little shrine to tacos turns out!
This is the largest project I've ever attempted. It will eventually be a Legend of Zelda stained glass design. This is pages 1-3 of 36. I should have noted my start date, but I'd guess I've been working on it for about 2 months.
I am working the design page by page, top of page to bottom of page, colors first and filling in the black "leading" last.
So, I'm still pretty new to Tumblr, but this is what brought me here. I was in the mood to twitch some Harry Potter. I spent a few weeks combing through Etsy and Pinterest for something reasonable that struck my interest and eventually stumbled on one of these. I try my best to track down original sources so I'm not "stealing" anyone's work. A pin led me to @theworldinstitches and my introduction to Tumblr. I decided to try a few posts, and here we are.
These are stitched on 14-count aida; Gryffindor is on White Mocha, and Slytherin is on English Tea I think.
LIVE: There’s a key vote on net neutrality and the whole Internet is watching
Starting at 10am ET today a key congressional committee will vote on the Save the Internet Act – the best bill we have to restore net neutrality.
Unfortunately Big Telecom shills on the House subcommittee voting today have already proposed dangerous amendments that could completely gut the bill or leave gaping loopholes for Internet providers to block, throttle, and charge Internet users new fees for access.
To get a clean bill that restores net neutrality passed need to show them the WHOLE INTERNET IS WATCHING.
Here are the best things you can do to help:
1. Reblog this post to spread the word. 📣
2. Embed our livestream widget into your Tumblr blog using the code here.
3. Call your lawmakers to demand they vote for a clean bill to restore net neutrality.
If we get the bill out of committee without any bad amendments, then we have a solid shot of winning the next big vote on the House floor in the week of April 8. Take a second to help out!
Not stitchy, but vitally important!

My love of Douglas Adams drove me to discover h2g2.com twenty years ago this fall. I spent many active years on the site before drifting off, and made dozens of friends there that I still chat with regularly. One of those friends also shares my love of Star Trek, and since she lives in England, wasn't able to get the Star Trek 50th anniversary edition of Entertainment Weekly when it came out a couple years ago. So I sent her one. But I wanted to make a little surprise package for her, so I included a few small cross stitches. This is one of them, and when I finished it I immediately wanted to make a second one for myself, but I've never gotten around to doing it. I still love this piece. Earth pattern from Cross Stitch Crazy magazine, alphabet by me.
I purchased this frame a few years ago. As soon as I saw it I immediately knew this is what I wanted to do with it. After a couple of years fruitlessly browsing Etsy and Pinterest in turn, I could never find quite what I wanted. So finally I spent some time with Stitchfiddle creating my own pattern. This is my first attempt at designing something from scratch, and I'm pretty pleased with the result.
