I'm just gonna drop this here.
Album came out today. Highly recommend.
Bought the CD a few months ago when it released physically and I haven't stopped listening since.
It's 100% june
Hey, I saw that you're really into wha spells so can you help me with a few?
The first one is a spell for melting snow and evaporating water without harming plants or living things beneath it. ( I know it hard im sorry, 😞)
The second is one for a better grip on things. For example, shoes that have better grip on the ground so it prevents slipping.
I want you to know that this has been haunting me every waking moment since you asked.
SO! this first one already exists. it's called Rain Flinger and it's the spell Qifrey used to repel the rain, as well as the one Olruggio had on the two rings that allowed him to dry off the brushbug and Coco.
The fire signs heat up water and the crosshair signs... Okay, gimme a sec cause this has been bugging me-
According to the wiki, the popular consensus is that they're non-directional signs that focus the spell solely on whatever the sigil depicts (water will only touch water, fire touches fire, etc). What I've noticed about a lot of these theories, though, is that they all seem to be going off of a worldview around magic being "rules as written."
From everything I've seen both in the wiki and the manga itself, the way witches talk about magic is similar to programming in the sense that every action will have a simple, predictable reaction, and because of this, you can read a spell to figure out its exact effect so long as you know the language.
this is BULL! I've been looking at magic like its a science when it's quite literally MAGIC!! The water draw spell can separate H2O from other stuff because MAGIC. Inverted crush can put powders back together despite them having little to do with earth because REASONS!
So, I'd like to pose a new framework for looking at magic:
Every spell is subject to the intentions being conveyed by the witch in the same way a spoken language can shift to communicate different meaning.
The water draw up spell separates water because the WITCH was only thinking about the water. the inverted crush spell puts powders together because that's what Coco and Tartah WANTED it to do.
My theory for the crosshairs is that they allow for more direct control over the magic's shape/target similar to the "sights set" signs, but whereas the latter allows for exact puppeteering, the former manifests in the abstract. That's why Rainflinger in Qifrey's hands became a water repelling bubble around him while Olly could use it to evaporate the water on a specific target safely despite them both being the exact same spell. The different witches had different intentions.
NOW! With that out of the way, I've got a spell I've been working on.
This is Tiny Greenhouse
After using Rainflinger to remove any snow around your plants, you can use this contraption to make a controlled environment for your garden to survive even in the dead of winter.
Draw the spell on the inside of a dish/plate and attach it to a pole or rope so that it's hovering just above the greenery, and then you're done!
The center seal is a simple light ball to act as a sort of heat lamp (my own headcanon is that the light sigil is like a domesticated star rather than an instant lightbulb), the four aeriform seals will radiate warm air throughout the area, and the outer seals will create a bubble of air that will trap the heat inside while repelling the snow and cold outside. Just gotta adjust the size and amount of signs for your specific plant's needs.
And, the reason this wouldn't just create a pocket of air and suffocate everything inside it is because I don't want it to :3
(As for the other idea, I'm workin on it)
I’ve been getting so annoyingly fixated on one spell in Witch Hat that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t really matter…
You know how when they all go to the magic stationer the first time, peepaw is like “I can extract ink at any concentration you need”? Then what he does is take a diseased branch, soak it in water in a beaker and then he uses a small spell to pull the water up into a ball, leaving only the black liquid…
So like… why did that work??? Why does the spell know what’s water and what’s just stuff mixed in the water? Does this work with other substances? Where is the threshold between ‘water’ and ‘not water’? If I use it on a glass of apple juice, does it just leave the apple concentrate? Is it based on the elemental form of water or is there some platonic ideal of water that the sigil interacts with? If I take that spell to the beach and draw up salt water, does it purify that water or does it just take the salt too? And if the answer is the latter, then why didn’t it take the ink with it the first time? It definitely looked homogenized enough to be one liquid, so what gives? If I hold this spell up to your mouth

If I had a nickle for every Majima Feathersword to come out of a one-off post...
I commissioned this piece from @celinedesigns
Really really happy with how it turned out, plus, they were absolutely wonderful to work with. 10/10 from me, those feathers look plush
If you're looking for a good artist, I couldn't recommend them more.
Robot girl wants to show her girlfriend how strong she is by holding her up with one arm, but as she’s sitting there, robot girl’s shoulder snaps off.
Girlfriend is horrified, but robot girl doesn’t feel it. She’s just more concerned about dropping her.
One time in middle school I decided to skip breakfast then down by ADHD meds with a large cup of coffee that was at least 50% sugar.
Two classes in, I had unlocked the secrets of the universe, but god got uncomfortable with some dumb-shit twelve year old staring at her for an hour straight, so she cursed me with unimaginable horrors.
Now I’ve got ADHD and autism.

I think I’m way too isolated on this site. Besides the one “how do I get mutuals” post I made a while ago I just don’t reach out 😑
I’m prolly gonna just make an effort to sneak into a person’s ask box like once a week. I’ll make it a routine :)
The tags I use frequently:
#info - any important info regarding this blog or adjacent blogs
#yapping - used for my random thoughts and rambling
#ask - used for responses to stuff in my inbox
#doodle requests - what it says on the tin lol
Hella useful. Prolly gonna start using this system :3

I need to see Goro Majima dressed up as Captain Feather Sword from The Wiggles.
I couldn't stop coming up with spells so here's a few more!
Here we have Cold Step. As an adaptation of Sylph Shoes, the idea was that you could put one of these seals on each of your soles so that the cool signs would freeze any water you stepped on while the strengthen signs made it strong enough to walk across. Only downside is that, like Sylph Shoes, you have to move in a very particular way in order to use them as simply picking one foot up and placing it on the water's surface would do nothing but create a chunk of floating ice that'd sink as soon as you put your weight on it. The ideal use is to sort of skate across with both feet touching the water/ice's surface at all times.
Next, we have Cozy Coat. I kept seeing the image of Snugstones and thought they were a really cute idea so I wanted to make something similar! The intended idea of this spell is that you you would write it on a small object similar to the Snugstones and place it in the pocket of your coat. Then, the spell would generate a mild heat that wraps around the garment and warms it up for you!
Here! You should try it!
....oh uh, that's not... supposed to... is that smoke???
I-I mean, it's a new spell, so how could I know it would've- Well, I'm sorry, I didn't know it was your favorite coat! How was I supposed to-
Uhhh...
Ummmm... :(
uuuuuuuuuuuuh-SOLAR FLARE!!!
*tries to get away while you're stunned but underestimates how blind I am.*
*trips over my own foot*
*grabs your burning coat on the way down*
*burns to death*
