So I finished watching all 8 episodes today. I love the liminal space and backroom style the show has. I am unsure how intentional that was, but I enjoyed it.
I hated that Caine messed with their heads so much. But that was the point, wasn't it? And I totally thought Bubble was a remnant of the blue AI, but I might be wrong after finishing episodes 7 and 8. We know that Kinger was one of the OG creators of the DC, and so he was able to get into a computer and destroy Caine (potentially). We also see that a lot of the tent is gone, but still partially there?? Jax is pretty tight-lipped about his past, but in episode 7, we see blips of his past life. He jokes that he had lung cancer in one of the adventures, but his monologue gets caught off. Kinger says in episode 7, "Scratch, the first abstraction," while looking at Caine, and then in episode 8, he talks about Scratch's backstory. Jax starts freaking out, spiraling into a panic attack, saying "no way". I think Jax is one of the original creators. Kinger didn't even fully know what Scratch had in mind for the project, and couldn't remember anyway. I really think Jax was one of the creators who put himself in, and his actual plan isn't going to be revealed until episode 9 (whenever that releases). Why else would Jax be so secretive? Why was his horror being laughed at and stripped of his identity? I think he put himself in so that he could live a different life where his brain tumor wouldn't fully affect him, and he could live pain-free. What if the goal wasn't creative AI at all, but a new digital world that sick people could thrive in? It gives me the same vibes as SAO's Alice season, where terminally ill people wore the headgear so that they could do things that they normally couldn't outside of the digital world. I think that is what Jax/ Scratch had planned all along. But I also could be waaaay off base. I won't know for certain until the season is completed.

I watched Countdown on Prime recently. I didn't realize that the story was incomplete. But because if my pattern recognition I think I know the direction the writers were gonna take for season 2, ONLY FOR THE SHOW TO GET CANCELLED.
