It’s so interesting to see bad reviews of Supergirl from men who don’t want to be called misogynistic. I keep seeing people claim that the movie was bad, but they liked the main actress so clearly they aren’t hating on the movie because it centers on a woman. Obviously there is a ton of people who dislike the movie because of that, but also misogyny is more than just not liking the women on screen?
The film very much centers its themes and story in experiences most women have. The ideas of the grief of girlhood, of being exploited by selfish men, and how children need to be protected from exploitation and violence all resonate deeply with a female audience. It’s so frustrating that a lot of men don’t understand or resonate with these themes, and more so, simply won’t listen to a women’s perspective on it and assume it’s bad. The lack of critical thinking to go “oh maybe this film isn’t designed around me and that’s ok” astounds me.

Doodles! I’ve been reading more wonderful woman stuff and was playing around with the idea of Barbra/cheetah becoming more animalistic/monsterous the more she feeds into her curse
The thing that really grinds my gears about this tendency some parts of fandom have of pitting Wally and Barry against each other is that Wally of ALL former sidekicks cares the absolute LEAST about "getting out of his mentor's shadow". If you say he's like Barry Allen in any way he takes that as the highest possible compliment, he's always been first and foremost concerned that he's not ENOUGH like Barry or that he'll fail to live up to the standard Barry set, because he's the guy's #1 superfan and always has been. He generally doesn't feel like he needs to make a separate name for himself or that he needs to be better than his mentor. If he outshines Barry then that's cool and all but it isn't something he was ever aiming for. Wally never wanted to escape Barry's shadow, he was wrapping it around himself like a warm blanket.

Post-resurrection Barry casually going "being dead puts a lot of things into perspective. Anyway pretty sure I'm gay" in the middle of a League meeting and refusing to elaborate any further
Which of these Black DC characters would you most like to see get an ongoing comic run? (Masc Edition)

As of today, it's been 1203 days (approximately 3 years and 3 1/2 months) since DC published an ongoing comic book centering a Black character in its mainline continuity. I'm using this poll to bring awareness to some Black characters who I think could use some love. Fem edition.
Favorite Platonic Relationship: Finals
Barry Allen and Wally West
Billy Batson and Tawky Tawny
Also I am completely OBSESSED with Kelly Thompson’s explanation of WHY Diana’s narrative position at DC as someone who characters fall in love with but she doesn’t necessarily reciprocate in a romantic way is written into Absolute Wonder Woman.
The way this from Aphrodite in Absolute Wonder Woman #19 engages with the fact that we cannot get a Diana appearance in a Valentine’s anthology that is about anything other than friendship and people crushing on her, that Diana has women obsessed with her in the text in ways she cannot fully return (see Barbara Minerva’s entire history and particularly Rucka’s explanations of how he sees Cheetah’s emotions towards Diana, see main universe Circe, etc etc).
It’s playing with a fundamental Doylist problem with Diana where she’s simultaneously always been an icon of women loving women (all the way back to exactly how the William Marston origins function) and yet she’s also simultaneously expected to be written as almost above the messiness of romantic attachments much of the time, particularly to women.
Diana’s been cursed/blessed to inspire and compel love from others, and like Aphrodite, because that love is induced she cannot fully tell whether it’s something she deserves or is involved in.
Now, she will never know whether someone loves her because they love her, or because they have no choice.
It’s so JUICY! So entangled in the shape of her storytelling! I adore this.
admittedly this is really fun because imagine being such a personality that motherfucking murder batman is looking at you like this.

That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
