Mental health is always an important topic. However, mental health issues are heightened in May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month. Brian Mackey is an artist for whom mental health issues are very important. He wrote āSaturday Night Sleepingā for his son who died of a heroin overdose. With the release of the song, Mackey hopes to raise awareness of both mental health and addiction issues. By phone, he discussed writing the song and what he wishes more people knew about mental health and addiction.
āSaturday Night Sleepingā was released on May 20th in partnership with the non-profit organization MusiCares. Between the release and the end of September (National Recovery Awareness Month), 100% of the proceeds generated from sales of the single will go to members of the music community for mental health and recovery assistance.
Singer-songwriter Brian Mackey's stirring "Saturday Night Sleeping" is a pleading message to a loved on in the grips of addiction.

REVIEW: āBrian Mackey is an American Singer and songwriter who released the song āKeep the World Aliveā.ā

āKeep the World Aliveā is a song that reflects on the Coronavirus pandemic and how life used to be so different before the pandemic. The track is a country inspired track and it has quite a relaxed feel to it with the acoustic guitar backing with simple string section. I really like how the strident strings are used to create some movement within the song as well as creating some melodic interest. Brianās warm country vocal glides seamlessly over the accompaniment and I like how he uses his full vocal range and tone. Also gotta say I love the opening like of the song "remember when corona was just a beer"
Fun fact in 2015 Brian had a hit with the track āBroken Heartstringsā which went to #8 on the AC Charts US and went top 25 on german iTunes resulting in a sellout show across Germany. Overall this is a really great song with a message that everyone can relate to in some shape or form. If you love country/ acoustic music or need to listen to something new and different to whatās on the charts then youāll love Brianās new track āKeep the World Aliveā. </p>
Singer-songwriter Brian Mackey released his music video for his latest single "Keep the World Alive." Digital Journal has the scoop.
"Remember my dear, when Corona was just a beer, and we didn't need a mask to leave the house?
"Remember my love, when we didn't wear the gloves, to pick from the super market shelf?"
"Keep the World Alive..."

He goes on to ask more valid queries of the listener and states observations in this way-less-than somber track. The song dives into lessons learned in this world of "social distancing", isolation, and the longing for the "not-so-distant" days gone by. As our world is morphing into something that is hard to recognize, Mackey says "it was written in a small effort to cheer up his friends and fans, and hopes that we can all pull out of this together as one globally united family.
