Sunner Kolsch is such a great grainy beer, at 5% ABV it is very sessionable. This is my go to beer for sitting on a hot summer patio. I took this photo at Republic in Minneapolis, MN.

Orange peel, coriander, cardamom, & candied ginger, lots of malt and a good dose of hops to balance it all out.
Cool video from Goose Island about creating a Helles Lager.
Over the last hundred or so years, the brewing industry in the United States has changed dramatically. From the saloon era through consolidation to today's flourishing craft beer culture, it's been quite a ride. Take a look at how the small brewer is making quite a comeback after nearly a half century of decline. It's a great time for beer!
This is a cool video from Dogfish Head where they make a beer using grapes infected with Noble Rot (Botrytis cinerea) to produce a must that is added at the end of the boil producing a fruit beer that is nearly 50% wine.

Greg Koch from Stone Brewing interview #2.
Great short film (promotional video) for Deschutes Brewery.
Greg Koch talking about Stone Brewing, marketing and beer in general

Today was a Fulton Beer day. We started out with a Presentation on going from home brewing in the grage to operating a full scale craft brewery, by Ryan Petz & Brian Hoffman of Fulton Brewery and lead by a great moderator from Northern Brewer who's name I unfortunately did not get. The presentation was very interesting and quite educational, it was great to be able to ask them some questions on the details of getting started. Both Ryan and Brian are great to talk to and very approachable.
Since today was the day Fulton was selling growlers at the brewery, afterwords we headed over to the brewery for tastings of Lonely Blond, Sweet Child of Vine, & The Worthy Adversary. We also got the tour from Brian, and a good beer chat with Ryan. Ended up leaving the brewery with a nice growler full of The Worth Adversary russian imperial stout.
Over all quite a nice day with the guys from Fulton.

My friend Christi Cottrell she has an amazing voice and is extremely talented. This song was recorded in one take from a laptop sitting on her lap, with no post.
The brewing process makes gas and foam, big beers make big gas and foam.
I LIKE BLACK BUTTES AND I CAN NOT LIE
Review: Deschutes Black Butte Porter (Tap)
By Niko I (FF)Â
Foudned in 1998, Deschutes is named after the river that runs nearby in Bend, Oregon. They donât export east of Minnesota (weâre so close!) yet, but hopefully one day I can find them in Wisconsin. I had this beer in Saint Luis Obispo, Ca.
Black Butte is the flagship beer of Deschutes, which is a bit unique seeing as itâs a porter, but the style is a bit of an easy drinker and would make sense. For those of you who donât know what a butte is like me (and kinda hoped it meant what it sounds like it means), unfortunately the term describes a tall hill with steep sides. Black butte is located in Oregon, and the ranch there is a nice little nature lovers destination.
Ok nature is great and everything but letâs talk beer. Black butte pours as expected and the aroma is a pleasant malt, toffee, coffee and lots of vanilla. By the first sip I knew I was really going to enjoy this beer: drinkable and sweet with flavors of vanilla, banana, biscuit, and milk chocolate. Thereâs not much coffee but just enough to add a bit of contrast. Really good stuff.
Niko I (FF) Score = 9/10
That is one sexy beer picture! And it sounds tasty as well!

Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen
Light off white head, one finger deep that recedes quickly Crystal clear dark red copper color. The smoke is the clear winner in the aroma at first almost thick but as you nose and palate become familiar with the smoke it is light and slightly sharp. The body is quite light for how dark the beer is, the flavor at fist is richly smoke, but your palate quickly grows accustom to the smoke flavor, and the characters of the beach wood and the malt come through. The beach wood smoke has a lighter sharp flavor, almost, but not quite acrid. This compliments the the roasted malt flavors. It is balanced with a mild bitterness that fills the whole mouth. The finish is light and clear with a lingering sense of smoke. For so much roast and smoke flavor I found this beer very refreshing. I would definitely order a second glass.
Today's brew day was an all grain version of the first beer recipe that I ever made. The original recipe was extract based.  It is a highly effervescent honey ale, very light and refreshing. This all grain version is likely to be much more complex, getting more character from the grain. It will be exciting to see how it comes out in about six weeks when it is done fermenting and bottle conditioning.Â
