My 24th year was one of the hardest I’ve ever had. I didn’t want to do my bday portrait this year but it’s important to be real n I have a hard time not being performative so here’s me being authentically mentally ill in this years portrait, it took me 4 days to get the courage to post smth like this so whoopsies.

My year was spent majority in disassociation, minority in panic and I got so sick I would get physically ill for weeks at a time, multiple times a month. My ocd specialist agreed we weren’t making any progress and treatment wasn’t working for me and referred me to a trauma therapist, and now I’m processing things my brain did an excellent job of keeping me distracted from. I have learned so much about myself, but also more than I could ever want to know, and we’re only in from 3 sessions with my new therapist. I am so grateful my college for having such cheap and accessible mental health care for me.

Everyone should look into what resources they might not even know they have access to. Be gentle with yourself and it’s okay to not be in a state you’re proud of. It’s okay to be hurt, it’s okay to be bad at recovery, it’s okay to be slow. I love yall and don’t worry I’m doing okay! I’m stable, and when I finish treatment I know I’ll be the best I ever have been. Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better and I’m already improving! I haven’t been sick in a whole month!🤍🌈🐛🦋😌
