A piece inspired by The Last Podcast on the Left
Version 2.
A wood grain picture I started today.
I made several ink splatters using block ink and some careful smearing, smudging, and smashing. I scanned, vectorized, and combined these, planning to originally use the resulting shape in conjunction with some drawn elements. However, once I created the shape, I liked the complexity and character of it so much, that I decided to keep the piece an abstract ink work.

Spray paint art. I was going for a gloomy, dark, old-time movie feel.
Available as iPhone & iPod Cases
Just uploaded an older piece to RedBubble for use as iPhone covers. Check it out, let me know what you think. :)
I finally feel like drawing again. The art slump has been going on for far too long. I couldn't decide what to draw, and am HORRIBLE at drawing people... So I started looking for inspiration in the books/comics we have around the house. I came across an Edward Gorey book, and decided to (very loosely) draw one of the characters on the cover (you know the one). But I changed it too much to call it a replication, so it's just kinda... Meh So yeah, not a big fan, but at least it's SOME productivity. (Plus that hand looks ridiculous without a child underneath)
End of the slump in sight...
Good news (for me anyway). I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for this art slump. I started drawing again recently, not a lot, yet it is SOMETHING. I was asked to help draw up a comic for a couple friends of mine. Honestly I have a lot of apprehensions; one being that I have been in the slump for so long, another being that I've never been strong at producing pictures of people (not to mention that I haven't even tried in a few years).Â
The upside is that they're no where near finishing the comic, in fact it's barely just begun having the story worked up. So I have plenty of time to refine my ability to draw people. I actually attempted to draw someone matching the description, and all things considered, it wasn't as horrible as I expected, I just need to relearn body proportions and refine my ability to make consistent drawings of multiple people.
Wish me luck. :)
Art slump
I have a very deep seeded need to create art, and when I feel the need, anything I've made previously seems worthless or far in the past. The problem is that I keep sinking into these art slumps where I start drawing with no clear idea in mind and then I excessively critique what I'm drawing at the same time. This leads to a lot of frustration and wasted sketch paper. It seems like when I'm inspired, it's effortless to create, there are no rules, I'm the only person I need to please; it's my therapy. That's why I would be afraid to be a contract artist, I have a complex about my art, I never feel like it's any good, and I would be self conscious about anything I was being paid to make. or maybe that's the slump talking...
