Okay so one thing that has been bothering me is that in the book Eridians really hate being watched eat, like culturally it's shameful. That's fine. It makes sense. They have to basically open up their internal organs to do so and also it's combination of eating and defecating at the same time. However, we know that Eridians like being watched sleep, seemingly mostly because they are unable to wake up and so they are also completely vulnerable and it makes sense that there's a difference because one you're not pooping while you're sleeping and two, presumably it would be select people that watch you sleep and Rocky chooses Grace the beginnings just because Grace is the only one around. But eating doesn't have the same feeling of unsafeness because you're still conscious.
However, we also know that Rocky seemingly falls asleep the second he's done eating, even talking drowsily as he struggles to stay awake when he's finished.
But how do these two things work together? How is it that being seen eating is shameful but you fall asleep right after you eat and you need someone to watch you sleep?
Is it just that? Because usually it would be a very trusted person watching you sleep. You wouldn't trust that person enough to not feel ashamed having them watching you eat? And while Rocky trusts Grace enough to watch him sleep, the shame is just too strong with eating?
