How does a human turn into a vampire?
The process for a human to turn into a vampire is a very dangerous and painful one. It is never certain whether or not the the human will survive. Ideally, the human should be healthy and young, anywhere from adolescent to early thirties. They must have a strong personality. They should have a will to survive. If these factors are not present, there is a high chance that the human will not make it. The process is also dependent on the vampire and how aggressive they are with their venom. Too much venom and it will over power the human. Too little and it will make the human severely sick and leave them in a coma or brain dead. The venom itself is not actually a toxin but a virus. This is why it is important for the human to be as healthy as they possibly can be before the process can begin. For vampires of the Cardinal breed, they are able to turn a human who isn’t of ideal standards as long as that human has a strong sin within them (I.E. Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, Envy, Pride, Greed, or Sloth). Sometimes it easy to see what a human’s sin will be and other times it is not. Many humans will die during the process because they do not have a ruling sin within them. The process itself is fairly simple. Once a vampire has selected a human to Sire, they will bite the carotid artery and inject the right amount of venom into their veins. This is where the cliche “Vampire’s sucking on people’s neck” imagery comes from. The bite wound will scar over and remain there even after the human has turned. The venom will then work through the veins, attacking all of the white blood cells and replacing them with itself. This is a very painful process and usually takes three to five days to complete and the human is in a very feverish state. By the end of it, the virus will have healed all ailments and repaired the human’s body so that it can function at the highest potential. At the end of a month, the newly turned vampire’s original red blood cells will have been consumed by the virus and, unable to produce more, the vampire will have to feed on other humans to refill it’s red blood cell count.Â
