Zero to hero

Sakura loved the clear blue sky. Loved losing herself in the clear shining color. When it was reflecting off of the water, when there wasnât a cloud in sight and the infinite distance it went off beyond comprehension.
It was the last thing she remembered, beyond yelling and screaming. After she had seen Naruto, blue sky was the last thing she had seen. So it made sense she dreamed of flying. Flying over Konoha, seeing all her friends going out their business, ignoring her as she called out to them and tried to get their attention. She flew over everywhere she had been, over all the people she had met over the years in a matter of seconds.Â
Then she flew over Wonderland. Over Kakashi and her coworkers, her new friends, her home. And then Sasuke. She yelled for Sasuke, praying he would catch her hand as she soared over him, her fingertips just missing his hair as she reached for him.Â
Then she slammed into the ground, all the pain of the hit focused on her chest. Every breath a tension in her chest, pulling and tugging her lungs from her ribs. The pain made her head spin, but she could still see enough to see the blue of the sky.Â
Rather, the blue of his eyes.Â
âN-Naruto? What are you doing here?â her arms flexed to try push herself up, but found no energy to do so. âWhat happened?â
Heâd run like he hadnât run before, he didnât want to lose her, he couldnât lose her. Theyâd survived through much worse and he wasnât just about to let something like this kill her, and once he got her good and taken care of heâd hunt down whatever or whoever it was that had done this to her and make them regret what they did.Â
He let his intuition lead him to a clinic and he was so thankful he hadnât gotten lost. It was stupid of him to run blindly in a random direction and hope it would take him where he needed to, but he always had stupid dumb luck and yet again it had proved itself useful when he needed it most. The nurses had quickly taken Sakura to get tended to and Naruto waited on baited breath in the waiting room. He had shot a text to his Chief to let him know what had happened and had gotten the ok to have the rest of the day off.Â
After what felt like forever, they let him into the room they had placed Sakura in, and then it felt even longer just waiting for her to wake up. He refused to leave until he was sure she was ok. He had almost been dozing off when she finally did wake up and he jumped out of his seat in surprise.Â
âSakura!!! I should be the one asking you that! I found you nearly dying on the ground! What even happened to you? What hurt you that badly?â
