Let's rest a bit

some of the rooms have fully stocked pantries with cooking equipment, some have movies like the one described above, some have books you're allowed to just take but people always put back- every day people bring things from the outside. artists often set up galleries there. there are rooms with mattresses and hammocks set up for people to sleep. one of the room is just a place where people leave shoes for the fun of it.

It has just been a reminder that the medical system would rather I die, then to try to get me treatment. It is a reminder that they have given up & do not want me to live.

It has been seeing white disabled people get all the treatment & resources while black and brown disabled people are left behind.

It's been eugenics and the threat of losing ADA & bringing back institutions.

People would rather pretend life with several diseases, parasites, viral infections, unclean air that we can't breathe is normal rather than wear a mask and do something about it. Every abled person is letting us all die and watching, just like the beginning of Covid too.

I have not felt any pride or joy. I have not felt accepted in a community, i don't have community care or access to the resources other disabled people do.

I have felt shame, anger, frustration, jealous, depressed and other negative emotions. I feel hopeless.

People follow me for my art, but would you care about my art if I become so disabled I no longer can make it? If I waste away in bed because I can't get up and have no caregiver, or resources?

I am just another faceless nobody. A disabled person slipping through the cracks of the system that will never be here for me.

People tell me to stay strong but have no idea how hard it is to live for a day in my body

I am tired.

I have only 18$ in my bank account because of some mental health struggles of my partner (going in & out of residential and hospital treatment).

Hey a dear friend of mine and neighbor is facing eviction due to racial discrimination and as requested by her family I made a a mutual aid campaign for her!! She needs $2500 as a starter point to get a retainer for a housing lawyer and housing stability if she is displaced! racist neighbors have been aggressive with harassment and assaults... and im worried about her safety..!!This will be my pinned till full her goal is met! Hey everyone!

Karim has continued to recover thanks to your continued support. It wasn't that long ago that he was bedbound, but his condition is much improved. He's up and on his feet now! Those of you who have been following his journey of recovery know how dangerously close he came to not making it after being shot in the throat by the IDF and suffering from malnutrition due to the lack of food in Gaza.

That said, he's still enduring tough conditions and pushing his body beyond what he should. Here is a message from his sister, my friend Lina:

"I want to thank everyone here. Karim's situation has improved, as you've seen, and that's thanks to all of your support. He wouldn't have been able to get this far without your help. He's now forced to do things that are supposedly wrong for him, but he has to because life here always requires effort, and he's still unable to work to earn money. But he's always trying, and once again, thank you all."

Please continue to support Lina and her family. Beyond just Karim, she also has two children to care for and life in Gaza is difficult. Funds will be spent on food, medicine, childcare supplies, and other necessities.
