Boycott Sochi 2014

Thanks to everyone for your support through this campaign. It was a much bigger success than I thought it would be. It was definitely hard to boycott these games, especially since they appeared to be everywhere. Kudos to those who took a stance against what they deemed to be wrong, while the rest of the world enjoyed living in ignorant bliss. Here's to those who stood by what they believed in. Hopefully one day equal rights will be achieved for all, animal cruelty will come to an end and everyone can coexist in harmony.

It's becoming close to impossible to boycott the Olympics. I use an app called streak for the cash, in which you choose teams/athletes to win sporting events daily in order to win cash. Many of these are Olympic sporting events, so I now have an idea of the events that are happening. Why is boycotting so difficult?

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around recently for updates. It's been quite a busy few days. I never knew it would be so hard to avoid the Olympics. They're everywhere. People are always telling me results. For the past two days, I've been in and out of the hospital visiting my significant others mother. The common rooms either had hospital information on the tvs, or the Olympics. My friends and I are heading to Cuba for a week and I will be unable to watch any of the events with them. I obviously am extremely proud of Canada for such a high medal count that at times I do want to cave in and watch. I later remind myself of the unjustifiable conditions and the urge fades. When I started these social media outlets, I never knew it would be so controversial. Though the Tumblr has reached high levels of success, there have been no debates. I have received many private messages thanking me for my work The Instagram page is a completely different story. While there are many who have given me a shoutout, liked my photos, mentioned me on others photos, etc. there are also ones who have been extremely hateful. One girl commented on all my pictures claiming I'm receiving the wrong news stories because they are all "Westernized". Others believed the USA was far more corrupt than Russia. Which brings me to my new point that I found a bit odd. Everyone thought I was American. Don't get me wrong, I love USA. But Canada is my home. There are certain policies in the states that need to be fixed (stances towards gays especially), but I believe it to be an overall wonderful place to live. It was surprising that everyone jumped to this conclusion though - why America? Because it's such a huge, populated country? Overall, I'm loving the feedback. It's been wonderful hearing what everyone thinks so far. Keep supporting :)

Thank you to everyone for their support! While this Tumblr account has 17 followers (thank you all for support!), the Instagram has reached 110! Debates have been sparked, not all of which have been politically correct (to put it nicely). As we've already seen, there have been issues surrounding security, animal rights, and human rights. Let's continue to boycott these Olympics together!

Good morning to all! Today is day 3 of the #boycottsochi campaign. So far things are going amazingly well. My Instagram page @boycottsochi has received over 40 followers, with 6 shoutouts encouraging their followers to follow the page. Not all feedback has been good feedback thus far. One man commented on one of my photos that I was an idiot for attempting to boycott. He later deleted the comment once I asked why that was his opinion. My friends have also questioned my intentions. I'll be in Cuba in less than two weeks. My friends all joke and tell me they're going to drag me out of bed to watch the games. They do not understand where I'm coming from but I feel it is very important. I don't expect everyone to want to boycott Sochi, but rather I want people to know how inhumane it is. It is setting people back in time. Everyone should feel accepted but clearly that is not the case.
