she just wants to get out of here. she just wants to get to a place that’s deemed safe. or safer than here. rapunzel is quick to trust, which can be a mistake, but she’s taking her chances as she follows the woman to safety. she seems to want the same things right now, anyway. rapunzel nods as her eyes grow wide as the woman pulls out the bow. “o—okay. yes, anything,” she stammers. the princess clears her throat, falling silent to think. to really think. “i mean, monty doesn’t like me much but i don’t think he would resort to this,” she adds.
turning to look at her over her shoulder, eyes narrowing as she watches the strangers face closely. “ anyone that might want you dead or injured ? ” perhaps a little too blunt. “ look, that shot wasn’t meant for me. so either you really were in the wrong place, or someone is out to hurt you. you’ll need to stay low for a while okay ? and if they try again, well i’ll try to protect you. ” it was stupid, getting involved like this and she was certain she’d get in a lot of trouble if gaius ever found out about it, but that wasn’t her concern right now. “ in here. ” a building she knew was abandoned, safe for the time being.

THE SILENCE FEELS INFINITE , STRETCHED OUT FOR FAR TOO LONG , but how could he blame her ? he’d ruined everything . their home , their friends , their family . it was all GONE because of him ; ash in the wind , lost forever . he can’t look at her , can’t breathe either —- chest crushed with the WEIGHT of his confession , the first time he’s uttered it aloud , but then she speaks . she speaks and he can’t believe the WORDS she’s saying ; the weight that’s being pulled from him . brown eyes shift to study her , staring at her with pure BEWILDERMENT , brows pulled together in a tight line . “ bella … ” he whispers , her name so fragile on his tongue , fingers sweeping across her skin once more . “ it is my fault . i caused the storm , whether it was an accident or not . i was just so scared . i just … i didn’t mean to . i was just so … ” the lump in his throat TRAPS the rest of his sentence , tears falling down his face once more , unable to hold any of it back any longer . he pulls himself in CLOSER , though , allowing himself the comfort he’s been denying himself for so long , accepting her support . “ i’m so sorry . ” he whispers , words a murmur against her skin , his face pressed to the side of her cheek . “ for that and this and everything else . i didn’t mean for any of it . i just wish i could take all of it BACK . ”
her name so fragile on his lips brought a pain to her chest far greater than anything inflicted upon her whilst she had been here. swallowing it down, eyes closing at his touch for a mere moment before focusing on him again. “ hey … ” she’s gentle with her approach, recognising someone on the verge of breaking, wishing she could take some of this pain from him. “ listen to me okay ? what happened wasn’t your fault. you may have summoned the storm, but you cannot blame yourself for what happened. ” she tries to be strong for him, tries to push away the pain of losing almost everything for a second time. the moment he accepts her comfort, she gives it readily, a hand lifting to stroke through his hair, the other resting against his cheek, wiping away his tears with a touch far too gentle for all her hands had done. “ i don’t blame you. ” she whispers against his ear softly, holding him close against her body, willing enough strength back to her muscles to carry this for him. “ i know. i know you didn’t. and that’s what matters. you didn’t want any of this, and i know that. please, let go of this guilt... ” shifting to press her lips to his temple. “ set yourself free from it before it consumes you … ” fingers continue through his hair, eyes squeezing closed for a moment, shielding him from the tears forming within her own gaze. “ i’ll never leave you. never. you’re -- you’re my home, kylo. ”

“ hey … ” fingers are softer than they’d been in a long time as they reached to touch the back of the other’s hand, head shaking slowly as an attempt of a smile is given. “ you didn’t drag me anywhere juliet. if i remember correctly, it was me that dragged you into all of this. ” eyes are wide as they study the other, attempting to sound as reassuring as she could. “ listen, i can handle all of this okay ? i can handle just about anything if it gives us a chance to find luana, a chance to help with the cause. ” fingers slip to grasp the other woman’s, lips pulling into a more reassuring smile as she squeezes against her grip. a step closer to her side is taken, shoulders brushing against one another as she softly mutters, “ don’t be sorry, juliet. ”

a soft , encouraging smile is offered at her words , though it’s far from forced this time . “ of course . ” he whispers , greatly relieved that doesn’t want to be fussed over , hands slipping back to his sides as he finally releases her . he has to BITE back the smirk that threatens to follow at her further reactions , head turning away slightly as he sighs once more , a hand reaching up to press against the side of his cheek . “ just … some things , bella . ” he murmurs quietly , like the WEIGHT of the words were too much for him to bear . slowly looking back towards her , he swallows down a faux lump in his throat , eyes filled with DISMAY as he slowly , reluctantly , continues to tell her the news . “ clothes , toys , a well read book . ” disgusted frown spreads across his face , gaze cast away from her once more . “ she’s obviously not there anymore , but … we think that she must have stayed with him at some point . ” sighing again , hand reaches out for her shoulder . “ we’ll find her , bella . i promise . we’re closer now than we’ve ever been before . and you’ve … you’ve been a great help . ”
gaze tracks his every movement, heart practically jumping free from her chest as she waits, as patient as she could be; though unable to help the way her fingers curled and uncurled at her side. breath stutters as he finally speaks, the world around her slowing, focusing on only him and the news he had to share. jaw clenches at the mention of a book, though she refuses to look away from him, refuses to allow the tears stinging her eyes to form. “ do you have them ? the things you found ? ” words forced from between gritted teeth, chin once more tilting up at the feel of his touch, determined to remain strong. swallowing heavily, hoping she might be able to push down all the emotions that threatened to explode free of her. “ i want to do more … i -- i need to do more. if she was there … ” trailing off to inhale a deep breath, one hand lifting to rub against the face. “ she must be so scared … ”

“ the easiest things are not always the best . ” she says gently , a small smile accompanying her words . “ but yes , i am sure i will LEARN a great deal while being here , and i’ll be grateful to be a part of such an important cause , too . ” she just feels honoured that they’re willing to trust her with it all —- especially with how SPOTTY her lies have been thus far . looking back towards her , a small frown forms at the way she seemed to stare of into the distance . she wonders whether something may be upsetting her , but given the nature of this WAR and the suffering that everyone seems to have endured thus far , she decides not to pry . she lets her speak freely , a soft , sad nod given at her words , though they make her heart ache . “ i am sure she is grateful for your work . ” she says to her , shuffling a little closer to her side as she DARES to reach out for her hand . “ and it does matter , but yes . let us end this pain for everyone . let’s make this land one that people can feel happy and safe in once more . ” encouraging smile is paired with a squeeze of her fingers , gaze lifting to hers as she tilts her head . “ is she … here , your sister ? helping you with all this ? ”
a sentiment she knew all too well, everything good about her life had not been gained easily. “ that much is true. ” slight smile given, along with a nod at her next words. “ yes, there’s much to be learned here. not just fighting either.. all of it. lucille, our leader, she’s very intelligent, we’ve all learnt much from her. ” swallowing as she stares down at their hands, a small smile pulling once more at the corners of her lips, gaze slowly trailing to study juliet for a moment. “ i am not so sure. ” a truth offered quiet enough that part of her hopes the other won’t even hear it. “ but this war needs to end. the king needs to be rid of, in whatever way is necessary. ” though she tries to keep her voice strong, there’s an echo of sadness and grief that is reflected within her eyes. swallowing heavily at the question, gaze once more slipping to the horizon as she shakes her head. “ no. she’s not here. ” words all but whispered into the light breeze, eyes closing as the memory of her sisters bright smile drifts across the backs of her lids. “ she’s the reason i came here actually. she is a prisoner, but not of this war. it is my hope that in doing this i am one day able to be reunited with her. ” she refuses to believe that she might not be able to, refuses to believe that luana may no longer be a part of this world. she’d know. she’d know if that were true.
