silas could feel his skin crawl, goosebumps spreading from where the dark all but hugged his body. it felt cold, but ... not in a painful way - not for him. not like it did when the cold outside bit into your skin. it was different. it was familiar. it felt cold & yet he felt warm. jesse had his back & the dummy impaled on his wings only added to that feeling. the son of nyx would always have his back while silas kept the frontline busy. no puns intended whatsoever. wings fluttered to throw off the dummy, hands lifted as the cold spread across his body even more. "yes, sir." the kratos born grinned, stomping back over to the other dummies, some makeshift to satisfy his need to train more than one or two stolen requested dummy could take, some not.
in a flurry of darkness, quick & deadly, he threw himself right into the group of dummies - punch, punch, kick, punch. he wouldn't tire, at least not for a while. not until sweat mixed with blood & he no longer felt fueled by the other's trust in him. every punch came with a grunt & left cuts behind, oozing with darkness, every kick was followed by a loud thud, darkness exploding upon impact & wings sending out blades whenever his body turned sharply with each swing to a different dummy. the last punch came with a little yell, sending it to the ground. silas was panting, sweat pooled on his forehead & his pulse surely going haywire. "that... what you hoped for?"
Jesse kept careful eyes on his movements, flying and moving his hands with the blades so every and each one of them hit true, feeling darkness and cold explode and spread with repeated impact and... Silas, he could feel Silas, wrapped within darkness, like his own arms were holding him, shielding him, guiding his fists and spreading his wings so no one could reach him. The smirk on his lips widened, heart racing, sweat dripping down his forehead as he kept his focus up even when Silas made it so damn hard. "Good boy." He said, not one to be outdone, watching as he massacred the dummies, a flurry of fists and darkness, spreading across the room, pure power tied together, destructive yet protective.
He was ready to test it out there, see how much they could do when they put it all together. Jesse drifted down slowly, darkness receding, feet hovering over the ground as he looked at Silas, exhausted on the ground. "It's a good start." He teased, caressing his cheek, the dummies destroyed at their feet. "For the next part we'll probably need a bed." That would probably not help keep him focused, but Jesse was only just a man.
silas is - as meant to be, at jesse's mercy. wings stretched wide behind him, exposed & weak against a-many things. including his charm, but more so the fingers brushing through them. soft shiver coursed through him, wings fluttering in delight - of comfortable discomfort. both. "i dunno if that's the kinda combo we're tryin' to work on." he knew jesse enough to know where his mind was going with the shadow clone idea & while silas would ...not be opposed per se, this wasn't the place or time for this. well, they were alone, so maybe it was, but ... not now. "...in me, huh." wouldn't be the first time. or the last. cracking a little grin regardless of his efforts to remain ...unbothered, silas would like to announce that all this was jesse's influence on him & he definitely couldn't be blamed for his mind wandering at a certain kind of comments.
he, too, watched the darkness slither towards him, sucked in a sharp breath when it slithered up his body, inch by inch until it reached his arms, practically merging with his body, dark veins pulsing through raised fists, which feel normal even though they didn't look it. jesse's touch was gentle - it always was, yet it halted each & every thought silas might've had. nasty punches coming right up. "yeah." little nod, fingers flexing - fist, no fist. fist, no fist. looked pretty nasty to him. he couldn't wait to take them for a test drive. neck craned to look behind him, he could see his feathers change, now coated in dark - though they'd been dark to begin with so that wasn't a huge change just yet. wings stretched once more, sharp, vicious & dripping with darkness. they felt a bit heavier, but ..not heavy enough to pull him down. "sure you got enough darkness left for yourself?" silas shot jesse a little grin before going for a punch at the training dummy he'd managed to get for his gym, too, so that he could practice away from the battlegrounds, too.
fists flew with their usual familiar swing to them & he could feel the difference upon impact; sharp ... compared to blunt - dark blades cutting proverbial flesh with ease. god, yes.
Jesse chuckles... Thoughts drifting, eyes wandering, then he refocuses on the task at hand. Darkness, covering and gripping, shielding, arming. "I always have enough darkness in me, darling." He says, thick Scottish accent as Silas punches through a dummy, blades sticking into the fabrics digging in deeper, burrowing as Jesse flies around, hands twisting and pulling as he tries to concentrate on those hits and make the little blades of darkness explode on another impact of those heavy fists.
"Next." He says, but instead of letting Silas go to the next he pulls at the dummy with a thread of inky black shadows, throwing it against his back only to have it pierced whole with the blades now covering his wings. Jesse smiles, letting it drop to the ground as shadows climb back up over Silas, protecting him and embracing him like they did Jesse.
"Go on then, wrap this up..." He says, pointing at the other dummies. There is still enough heat for a few more punches.
jesse found him, not bleeding, and not in-between battles. hunter had taken some hard hits and then tried to use his powers on his own blood... as fascinating to watch as that was, it was a dumb idea, and jesse had told him as much.
back at camp, however... "did you get anything to eat?" he asked, the morning after they were back, leaning against one of the walls in the poseidon cabin. thinking of it, that was probably the first time he'd been inside it. huh...
"i brought you something, snacks, and not snacks." he pushed a little bag into his hands, inside some sweats he'd grabbed from the kitchen... and a flask with his blood. "unless you've grown fangs and an aversion to the sun since we've last spoken."

was he tipsy?
the more important question was: could you blame him for being tipsy? when handsome satyrs and godlings kept refilling his cup, he wasn't gonna say no. and it tasted so damn good that his cup was ready to be refilled before axel knew what happened.
so he sat at a table, watching those far more social than him have a good time. while there was still much to understand about what happened this evening, there was no doubt that today was a good day.
"i know i already bothered you for a dance, but it seems like a waste to leave you here all on your own..." he sat down next to the other, cup full, smile wide. bittersweet as it was, the evening was beautiful, emotional, and a nice respite from what they usually had to deal with. jesse himself felt a little lighter maybe, reflected in the warm tones he seldom wore...
the night felt fresh and full of promise. his mother's domain bringing in the usual peaceful feeling of being embraced by the dark. some wistfulness there, too, given what they now knew. "tell me if i'm intruding on your alone time, i just thought i'd take the chance to catch up a little, before we go off on the next big thing."

Robbie snorts and nods his head. "You're right. Which is why you should save the energy for those situations." Robbie says with a nod. Hearing the other man's words, Robbie shrugs his shoulders. "I guess? If I'm meant to know the changes, then I'll let them come to me. I'm not gonna go hunting myself." Robbie says with a laugh. Even if it was a little fib. Considering how he's been trying his best to avoid seeing if anything's changed for him personally.
Robbie quirked an eyebrow when the other seemed to try to chastise him. "I can handle off of little sleep. I have so far." Robbie says with a roll of his eyes. "I'll be here ready. Besides, there are some people I've talked to who are literally nocturnal. Should be more worried about them oversleeping the ranger alarms." He joked.
jesse grunts, annoyed. "you might regret that when they find you." he didn't have to look for anything, alternate jesse left pieces of his life everywhere, in all it's wholesome glory. apparently he could fix all of his problems, just not him him.
he shook his head, "we don't oversleep... usually." he says, "besides, last time there was an emergency, it was hard to ignore."
he remembers the invasion, silas... the rush to wear the damn armor and being faced with a godling on steroids. so much had changed since then, too much and yet here they were. in the same place. sort of.
"we'll be fine, i gather, just, get enough rest will you? you never know when chiron is going to drag you hungover or not into a training session."
leave it to jesse to calm him down; skin against skin, warmth shared between two bodies. it was comfortable despite the mental turmoil, it was calming... it was nice.
& then jesse pulled away, eyes on his own - silas felt his body stiffen, frozen like a deer in headlights. courage from before ... gone. he wasn't good at this shit. but he ... asked. he was trying. why be stuck in the not-knowing when they could ..be better than this. honest with each other - with themselves. unless silas' truth was not jesse's. which was ... one of the reasons he hesitated so much. sometimes the truth ... better remained unspoken. he knew that, but hope fueled him regardless. that & terror. but he tried to not let it show.
think we should really use our words this time.
well, he was trying. but staring at the son of nyx's back... wasn't helping. why were they so bad at this? he did know, though, that distance was not accepted, so he crawled closer again on the bed to let himself flop against jesse's back. they didn't have to look at each other, fine, but … he wanted this at least. "our ... other ...us... they really had it all figured out, huh?" meanwhile they couldn't even have a proper talk.
jesse felt him approach, felt his warmth before he felt the skin against his own, glued to his naked back. hesitating still, though this time jesse could relate.
he relaxed, face turning to him, smiling despite himself as he held silas near, forehead on his, nose brushing his cheek. "they can't have had everything figured out, right?" he asked, with some hesitation. "i..." he sighs, lips meeting skin, it is easy to get lost in this instead of using big boy words.
"i told you about--the last time i tried this. how it ended up, that was the closest to marriage i thought i'd get and i fucked up." he whispers, "i know you have history, as well, and it's like tempting fate to even get this far. i never thought..." he closes his eyes, forehead against silas', "i never thought i'd love again until i met you."
"i need you to know that. i... if nothing else, you do know, right?" he pulls him up, there is still something he needs to do. words he needs to say. and he needs to listen too... but he is afraid of what will happen if they don't get this done now.

winter was feeling rather in a happy mood. things were good. and he was meaning to see how others have been doing, especially now with this change of the timeline. so he texted jesse to meet him in the forest. it was a place where he enjoyed spending time in. and it was familiar. nothing about it had changed. when he saw the other he waved. " good to see your style hasn't changed, " he commented. " or perhaps it had, and i'm just now noticing, i don't know. " a soft chuckle escaped his lips. " come walk with me. this place is honestly the only place that hasn't changed at all. i thought we could just explore. "
"why, thank you." jesse said as he met winter in the forest, that... would mean something else anywhere else but given everything that had happened jesse thought he would give the other the courtesy of not commenting. this time. "glad to see you're also still the same... i hope." gods knew they had enough change over the last few days. "a place that hasn't changed, that'll be a sight to behold." he smiled, a hand patting winter's shoulder as he walked towards the path in the woods, though no fey this time he hoped. "what have you been up to in this brand new timeline?"

"All day not at all," he paused making sure the other could see his grin, "but all night yes you do seem like the romantic tangled up in the bed sheets type." It had been a while since the pair had found each other in the middle of the night.
The connection they shared to the night and the fact that their godly parents were in fact married did make this seem like and older sibling told to check on the younger.
"I guess there has been a lot for me to take on lately." The hand on his shoulder prompted a nod from him. "I do now slipped for a little but found my footing."
"Must be hard to see Gabe again after processing all that." He told the other without much fanfare, "How is your not husband taking that? Not really sure what your dynamic is"
jesse chuckles, "maybe one of these nights you'll find out just how much." he winks at him. comfortable, and at ease next to him. he is glad to have this moment of quiet with rio, after everything.
"well, i'm glad to hear that." he says, "i hate how much all of this has thrown us for a loop, i mean... after all we did, it was supposed to be a good thing, right?"
his easy grin dies down at his next words however, and he shakes his head with a sigh. "there's nothing to take really, gabe wasn't..." he could've been, maybe, something. jesse cared for him, wanted to keep him close, keep him safe, this one he... he doesn't know how to feel about him. except relief he is alive, and a strange sadness over what was lost and regained, in a way. "he was a good kid, i wanted to keep him safe. there wasn't time for much more than that. silas has no reason to worry..." he shakes his head, "though i don't think he would."
"is this your way of fishing for information? i told oliver how i feel about marriage. it's... complicated. the dynamic right now is it's complicated."
When the man leaned in close to reveal his little "secret" to Leonardo, the demigod couldn't help but look at him with wide eyes and a wider smile. "Hol' on, really?" Clearly not going along with soft exchange of words between the words. Fortunately, he gathered himself pretty quickly and moved back in, this trying to keep his voice to a whisper. "I suppose we gotta keep on working 'til we're in a better spot than we are now."
Leonardo would be the first to admit that he joined the camp with his priorities being mostly on himself. Curious how he could transcend into greatness. It also didn't help that he tend to have a solitary life prior to all of this, and with his late addition to the group, he believed the focus would be better to remain on himself since dynamics would already be forged. However, despite it all, Leo still felt himself becoming more concerned about how he can be a better fit to this band of godlings.
"Whatcha mean?" He said, pulling back from the other. "Oh, right! We can do shit like that." Leonardo had completely forgot about that, when he got here he was just tolled to practice alone that he just neglected the thought of synergy with someone else's gifts. "Let's be real for a moment. The child of night and the child of space joining forces. I reckon summin' nice’ll come of it."
jesse nodded, a shrug following right after. "we've had a lot to work through... we still do, clearly. but we're getting better, that's something."
at least jesse knew who had his back and who he could work with in a pinch. these days though, protection had to extend to all. whoever was with him. the people who'd get the brunt of it if he slipped up... the civillians that got killed during this timeline's invasion.
he didn't know how alternate jesse dealt with that, but he knew he couldn't afford a slip-up like that again.
at leo's words he smirked, wide and pleased. "oh i think we could probably get someone in some deep trouble." ideas filled his head, what he might be able to do with the other, pulling at the darkness but from space? he had seen a little of what the other could do and he had to say the ideas were thrilling.
"you just let me know whenever you feel like training a little."
in fact, it had been since the chronus trial, but silas never knew how to bring it up - or when. fuck, he still didn't know. he was winging it, or something. his other him had it all worked out, didn't he? as did the other jesse. but ...how? how the ever-loving fuck did they? officially living together, rings, a goddamn wedding. how?
this jesse & this silas didn't talk about these things & part of him was okay with that, but ...part of him wanted to be better. maybe that was why he did this, why he ...pushed. to become a better ..him.
"i..." i wanna hear you say it. forehead against the son of nyx's, deep breath followed. i wanna hear the words. big paw of a hand cupped jesse's jaw, "i uhhh... i dunno." why did he say & not say it? why bring it up? why not finish it? why did he refuse to… finish it? did he regret it? he did, didn't he? “why?”
jesse caressed his hair, the white highlighted in the dark, mouth pressing kisses along his chin and his cheek as he nuzzled the soft man. "why?" he questioned, pulling away to look at the creases in his brow.
why did he say it? why didn't he say the whole thing? why they danced around this so much? there was a lot to unpack on the best of days. this was, probably, not the best of days but those were a rare thing.
getting rarer, probably.
jesse sighed again, pulling further away as he turned his back to silas. "think we should really use our words this time, darlin'."
silas got up on his feet when jesse pushed himself off the edge of the ring to meet him halfway, leaning into his touch all too readily despite the original reason for them to be there. combo. take what they had; unwavering trust & profound affection & turn it into something bigger. something that was theirs. "i dunno, y'keep pullin' new tricks outta your sleeve." neck bared, presented & breath held, silas let the son of nyx take the lead, content to float along as needed.
his wings slowly unfolded behind them, shy at first - as if they only waited for jesse's finger to lead the way, but stretching out to their full potential soon enough. "which-" oh. darkness flooded the place, his question answered before he could ask. he stepped forward in the dark, his steps sure & confident, because yes - he was wearing the ring. he didn't take it off, ever. "'course. now what?"
jesse's fingers brushed the black feathers on silas' outstretched wings. "well, not this one... at least, not now. i can think of a few uses for a shadow clone of yours..." he teases, toying with the feathers before he steps back slightly, hovering above the ring as he flies around silas. "now you just stay there and look pretty for me, let's see what you can do with a little bit of darkness in you." he tried not to think too much about his darkness slowly drifting towards silas, slithering on the ground then climbing over his feet, his legs. he needed to focus and not crack jokes or think about venom.
"the idea is covering up your wrists with something to leave behind when you do those nasty punches, ye?" he asks, drifting in front of him as the darkness climbs, slithering into his wrists like veins until they reach his hand and make it pitch black, as jesse's fingers brush bruised knuckles they sharpen like daggers coming out of silas' hands.
"perhaps the wings can be of help in that too..." he goes back behind him, lets darkness coat the soft feathers, pitch black going darker, sharper, deadlier. it almost looks like... if he were to jump silas, he'd be covered in stabbing wounds. which is exactly what he wants to happen to anyone trying to land a hit on his--yeah.
sat cross-legged in the middle of the ring in the kratos cabin basement, silas was not alone. it was somewhat early, but not as early as silas would usually be here to train. he was dressed in the usual; two pairs of shorts of different legths, a tank top, feet & hands wrapped up nice & tight. jesse looked breath-taking as always & silas could very well spend the next hours just looking at him, but that wasn't why they were here. they... had been talking about it, but there had been so much going on that they just never got the time to think.
but after the trial, after falling into this new life their alternate selves led, which they definitely did not... he thought they should try. jesse did, too. "so uh... how are we gonna do this? you got any uh… mmmm.. y'know i ain't got the magic shit down like you do, yeah? you gonna make a second me outta darkness or somethin'?"
jesse chuckles from where he stands, leaning against the ring in the kratos' cabin. a place he was seeing for the first time since the time fuckery they went through but that was still, thankfully, the same. silas too, was the same. he was ever grateful for that.
this... it was a good distraction, a good exercise to get back on their feet. he approached silas, naked torso on display as he moved swiftly until his hands were on his waist, and his lips on his ear. "no, that's not really my thing is it..." he teases, lips trailing down towards his neck. "why don't you get your pretty wings out and let me worry about the magic darling." his fingers trail up his back, gently teasing as he steps away again.
the idea is mostly powering up his fists, but perhaps he could do something about those wings too... "you got your ring, right?" he asks, before he bathes the whole room in darkness. silas looks at home in it now, and jesse is tempted to dive back for a kiss, but he focuses on the task instead.

"Can you blame me?" He whispers back, leaning in close. To anyone else it might seem like he was trying to order a drink amongst the loud hustle and bustle of the bar. Though on a closer look one might see Oliver's hand reaching out to slowly caress the others chest. "Ah would never dream of doin somethin like dat." His cajun accent slipping out as he laughs sweetly against the other man's ear.
"Ah'd love to be a good boy for you... Just give the order Sir" With that he pushes back into his seat. Raising his glass up and slowly taking a sip as he waits to see what Jesse might make him do.
jesse shook his head, the innocent thing did not fool him at all. oliver knew very well what he was doing, but that was the fun of it. "of course you wouldn't..." he mutters right back, busying himself with cleaning glasses as he meets those eyes, oliver taking those glasses to his lips very slow and deliberately. jesse had half a mind to make him kneel right there behind the counter.
he wanted to spare lydia and astrid of that, pretty sight as it may be. then of course, those words hit him and he felt himself stir in his pants right away. these boys really knew how to make a man lose his focus didn't they?
he shook his head. hoping rio did not walk in just then. "why don't you come over here and help me with something, if you're so eager to be a good boy..." he whispered. "i'm sure you're used to the dark."
