The potential TTS could’ve had if it was made for teens-young adults instead of children
I mean the things that could’ve been expanded on or made angstier(I don’t think that’s a word lol) if it was a show for teens
-Rapunzel’s trauma, especially relating to the tower and Gothel. We could’ve gotten some really good panic attack scenes in this show
-Varian. I love his arc but it could’ve been so much better if it was written for teens, especially since he’s a teen character. Eps 1-15 I think could stay mostly the same. QFAD could’ve been so much angsty and dark. Explore his relationship with his dad more. The ending of the show could’ve gotten a lot darker, especially his breakdown in SOTS. We could’ve seen more of Varian’s perspective of things. I would still keep him going to jail but things after that could change.
-Eugene. Just overall. He shouldn’t have been sidelined the way he was. Also New Dream could’ve had a lot better moments. Again, QFAD could’ve gotten a lot darker. And the final battle.
-Cassandra. I don’t really have any notes for her. She was a pretty well written character in S1. there could’ve been more foreshadowing for S3 but that’s all really.
-Lance. He’s pretty perfect. I kinda wish he could’ve interacted with Varian in S1. It would be a lot cooler to see all of Varian’s relationships change after QFAD.
Season 1 overall could’ve kept the silly filler episodes but maybe include a little more relationship building with the main cast (also maybe include Varian a little more but I’m biased sooooo)
So I don’t have a lot of notes for this. I don’t want S2 much just because I personally don’t like filler much (unless my favorite character is in it lol). One thing maybe is that they add Varian in season 2 to give him a bit of a better redemption arc. But that also doesn’t need to happen since it could also work in season 3 with better writing.
-Rapunzel. The beginning is pretty okay in my opinion. It’s a lot of world building which works for an adventure season. After the great tree though, I think it could’ve been a little better. Expand on her and Cass’s relationship and her and Eugene’s so the ending has a better hit. Also reveal that she’ll be betrayed early on in the season so the audience has more time to theorize.
-Eugene. Again, DON’T SIDELINE HIM! His arc in the end is really cool about the dark kingdom. I don’t know if I would keep the dark prince part since they don’t go anywhere with it but if they do, include it in the story! Overall, I think his is pretty good, just make it more angsty and dark.
-Cass. Give her more relationship with Rapunzel so the betrayal hits harder. It can be obvious from the beginning so that it just makes it sad for the viewer or make it very hard to guess. Again, make her angsty and dark.
-Lance. Give him a little more story other than crushing on Adira. Otherwise I don’t have many notes because there’s not a lot for him.
-Hookfoot. Honestly, cut him. We have comic relief characters already. He’s a bit unnecessary. He can still be in the show just not in season 2.
-Varian. There’s two ways for his story to go. Either he goes on the S2 adventure or stays in jail. Him going on the adventure adds more depth to his relationships with the other characters, maybe adding a theme of found family. While this could be fun, it’s not necessary. The other route is he’s in prison for season 2, like in the show. Something to add though is maybe scenes or episodes of Varian in jail. We don’t know what happened in that year and if this was a teens show it can get very dark. Make Andrew even more of a horrible person. It gives us more reason to want his redemption arc.
This season is rough. It’s obvious things were changed, causing plot holes. This season can get so dark though.
-Rapunzel. Give us even more depth to how she’s feeling. Her bad coping mechanisms, her relationship with Cass, overall just everything. More story on how’s she grown would also be good. And make the final battle more epic.
-Cass. GIVE HER A BETTER REASON FOR BECOMING A VILLAIN! I love moonstone/villain Cass and I wouldn’t cut it but give her a better reason. Scratch that. Give her a reason. I like the Gothel’s daughter aspect but expand on that not just “I hate you for getting kidnapped. Also give her an actual redemption arc not just send her off.
-Eugene. I like him becoming captain of the guards. Go more into detail of how he’s connected to the dark kingdom. Overall just give him more. Give him a deeper sibling relationship with Varian since that was already where it was leaning.
-Lance. Just give him more story. Lance is such a cool character and he deserves more. We love Lance here.
-Varian. Holy shit was he not used to his full potential in this season. He just got out in the background. We’re going with the he stayed in jail route for this analysis. Give his redemption arc more time. Include him in more episodes. Make him part of the main group. Go into detail of what happened in jail, make it dark. Honestly kill Andrew. The end of Rapunzel’s return could’ve been so much better. Give us more when Quirin is freed. TELL US WHAT WAS IN THE LETTER. Explain his mother(ik Vat7k but it would’ve been cool to see Ulla explained in the show). Give us more time of seeing Varian with his dad back. Make him have more anxiety of losing him. Panic attacks. The red rocks episode, go more into detail of not just Varian but everyone’s fears, and don’t make them silly. The finale, DON’T PUT HIM THROUGH THE PORTAL! Actually just cut the portal all together. Give him more connection to the dark kingdom and the moonstone through his dad. Maybe the mindtrap extends to Varian and Eugene. Give him more in the finale. Overall Varian was underutilized.
I may add to this later but let me know what you would add to make this a teens show.
