The alarm rang exactly at half past five in the morning. It roused you quickly from sleep, and you reached to turn in off on the second ring.
A familiar presence pressed against your back, arm thrown over your torso, bringing you closer as a tired sigh left him.
Feeling his breathing against your back made your lips quirk up slightly. Lucifer. He hadn't left yet.
You were enveloped in the smell of him, the rich cologne mixed in with his preferred soap, all encompassing to produce his characteristic scent. It was a mix of leather, coffee, and something uniquely his. You were addicted to it.
You pressed a small kiss to his hand, causing it to twitch for a second before he brought you closer to him.
Another sigh, more akin to a grumble now.
Your fingers reached for his arm, tracing the skin softly, your touch featherlight and slow.
"Love" you called, feeling him mumble incoherently against your neck. You suppressed the need to giggle, not wanting to disturb his vulnerability.
It was no secret to you that Lucifer hated waking up early. Each morning, he drank an unhealthy amount of coffee at breakfast, his gaze momentarily lost as he heard the usual ruckus of his siblings, pondering on the benefits of carrying on with the day.
You turned in his grasp, tearing another groan from him. Finally, your gaze landed on his face.
His brows were furrowed in annoyance, eyes stubbornly closed, lips pressed into a pout. Yes, Lucifer Morningstar pouted.
You brought your hand to his soft, tousled hair. You didn't bother fixing it. Instead, you began threading your fingers through it, mindful of any possible knots. The demon melted against your skin, pressing deeper to the juncture of your neck as he inhaled your scent.
You closed your eyes too, focusing on his weight against the side of your body.
The path your fingers trailed was practiced. You started from the top of his head, moving softly towards the place where his horns would normally be. You paid close attention to the spot, knowing he normally felt pressure there. Then, you moved towards the back of his ears, gently caressing the area. The demon shook slightly in pleasure, your touch working wonders to drive away any stress of the coming day.
Finally, your fingers reached the nape of his neck, messaging the area slowly.
Repeating the motions slowly turned Lucifer putty in your hands.
"You're making it harder for me to wake up". His voice was a low rumble, speech slurry and words barely coherent. Right against your ear.
"Am I?" You answered softly, pressing a kiss to his temple. "You went to sleep late last night."
His arm twitched around his waist before a long sigh left him.
"It's Saturday" you countered, feeling his brain begin to think. Every morning was a battle to him, between the idea of sleeping in with you, and having to deal with his duties.
"I promise I'll wake you up at nine?"You said as you pressed your fingers to that spot in his neck that made him melt.
Silence filled the room. If you focused enough, you were able to hear his breathing. Then, you felt his lips twitch against your neck. When you looked down at him, his eyes were still closed, and the softest of smiles graced his face.
"Not a minute later" He said, no threat behind his voice.
