the among us show being a total gorefest on par with john carpenter's the thing is a really fun choice
the among us show having a gay orgy in the middle of it is another really fun choice
realizing many people don't know about infinity train creator owen dennis' among us show from years ago, which has been trapped in unreleased limbo all this time and was just dumped on streaming this morning with no advertisement. they don't even know about its weirdly stacked cast
was expecting another goncharov but...its real?
The thing neurotypicals tend not to understand about the ADHD brain is that it really only has two gears
I turn to the chalkboard and carefully write out
WORKIN' HARD
HARDLY WORKIN'
Much like a cars transmission getting stuck between gears the adhd brain can also access a secret mode called HORKLY WARDIN' that feels bad
Stole this from somewhere but i think it’s appropriate
Mirror neurons are the reason you cry at a funeral for someone you never met. your brain literally cannot tell the difference between watching grief and experiencing it, it just runs the program. and writers who understand this are playing an entirely different game. you don't describe the sadness. you put the reader in the body that feels it. the mirror neuron does the rest. you're not writing emotion. you're building a trigger for theirs.

It’s a beautiful thing when you get so comfortable with someone and you realize you’re telling them things you’ve never said out loud before
Babies are socially accepted parasites.
When u read Ayn Rand 1 time
They’re not a parasite, they’re a potential investment
When you read Ayn Rand a dozen times

Decided to finally draw Felassan after saying I would for almost a full year haha
I didn’t like his depressing, slicked-back, man-bun in DAtV so I gave him a braid instead; pretty boi has to pretty boi. The only time I think he would wear that slicked back man bun is if Mythal did it herself like a mother would for her teenage son before prom or for church.
ursula k le guin was right
all of it, more or less
Oh go on, swing the bat at the hornet’s nest, post her takes on Watership Down
There's a post sitting in my flagged posts that's been there for three plus years. It's a pair of onions in a bag that looks suspiciously like a pair of fat tits. Apparently it's flagged for everyone and God i wish i could show y'all
Lord if this works
brought nothing to the gun fight. whatever man
Harry du Bois would do this.

Analyzing the politics of a work that's meant to be apolitical is actually a really interesting exercise because it asks you to critically examine what the creator considers to be "political" in the first place. Which ideas are just How Things Are, and which ones are Political, and how is that influenced by the creator's beliefs?
Usually this just ends up with you looking like a moron btw
Angrily lashing out at the suggestion that it's possible to do basic media analysis was foundational to the ragebait ecosystem of the 2010s, from which we got basically the entire culture of modern far right politics, btw.
I genuinely believe myself and others are being so sincere and literal when we say TOUCH GRASS
I went outside and got an education, that's where I learned that you can obtain knowledge and insight through analytical methods, then noticed that some people who sit on the internet yelling at strangers get really mad about that constantly.
Don’t make me point to the Omar Sakar poem
I don't read as much fic as I used to but one "tell" for non Canadians writing us, besides the etransfer, is the units you use to describe us measuring something. I hate to tell you this but The Chart is real and it's completely subconscious. Please abide
ETA the chart (or at least a version of it):
ETA2: we do use inches/miles in poetic ways ("he was lost in thought/miles away" or "his lips were a bare inch away").
Also, the length of a dick is in inches for SURE.
#'is the long distance related to work? no > metric; yes > imperial' ARE YOU OK??? (via toushindai)
I'm Canadian and I don't know what that means, so either it's less universal than the chart maker thinks or it's something I've seen here before but explained badly enough that I'm not recognising it. I just kind of use a chaotic mixture of inches and centimeters for measuring non-work-related distances shorter than a few meters.
The rest of it is mostly accurate, but mass and volume are even less consistent than they look: packaging always uses metric whether it also has an imperial conversion listed or not, so referring to groceries and anything else small to medium-sized that's sold by weight or volume or that's about the same size as groceries in kilograms and liters is normal. Also, our cups and spoons are metric - 250mL cups, 5mL teaspoons, 15mL tablespoons, slightly larger than the US versions - so I for one use both regular metric measurements and metric cups and spoons when cooking.
Also it stops at pounds. If a typical Canadian needs to subdivide a small weight measurement further than that they'll say it's half or a quarter or a third of a pound or switch to grams, they will not start measuring things in ounces.
