Hi my name is Sandra and I am the founder and editor-in-chief of Oni Magazine. Oni magazine is an online mag featuring speculative and experimental works by people of color. I created this mag because I noticed in speculative fiction and avant garde spaces there was a lack of visible people of color despite out many contributions. I want this to be space where I can give people of color the voice to express themselves fully and wholeheartedly. My goal is to raise enough money to pay contributors, maintain the website, and overall grows as a mag as I hope to branch into other things. My last few tries to raise money failed but I hope this time around, with using a reputable site, I can raise enough money to cultivate Oni to a global force.

you pledge a certain amount, could be a $1 to whatever amount. Pledging is sort of like subscribing you pay this once of month and receive content. You can pay $1 a month and receive quality content just like that.

I made this page cause I want to pay the people who contribute to the mag. In that you can get regular content and people will receive proper compensation. Like if a ¼ of my followers pledged a $1 I would meet my goal and properly pay people and provide content. It’s that simple.

that’s my baby sister, clara. she was seventeen years old. she was six months away from graduating high school. she loved hamburgers, wore my shirts without asking, loved to read, and had a soft spot for animals. everyone she knew called her kind, goofy, and loving. she wanted to be a writer or a librarian. she was full of light, but she was always an anxious child, suffered from depression, and had been in therapy for two years. 

she committed suicide on october 19th. 

october is a really rough month for my family, and we’re all grappling with this in varying stages of grief. my mom’s already struggling, because she misses work for her cancer treatments, and my brother and i live paycheck to paycheck. so i’m putting my paypal link out here, to help with the nearly $3k it’s going to cost to give her a resting place. if you can’t donate, reblogs are appreciated.
