Sunday & Tuesday's runs were so HOT. Like 80+ and almost 100% humidity. My heart rate was through the roof and could only eek out 13 min miles that involved a lot of walking. Today is just some cross training + a yoga class.
All in all, MAF training has been very frustrating, and I've literally only been at it for a week and a half. Humbling asf.
this was so humbling I cannot believe that a 13 min mile is what it takes to stay below 150bpm
MAF training
I’m beginning MAF training today. My thought process here is that I’ll do MAF to train for my September marathon in NH, and then I’ll incorporate speed work for the Savannah GA marathon in February. Stay tuned on the journey.... my heart rate usually gets to approx one thousand, so I imagine there will be a lot of run/walk in the beginning. Doing the 5 mile MAF test today - will post the results later.
I also got two new pairs of shoes for no reason... Clifton 9 and Torin 7. Will give you my thoughts on those as I get some miles in.
Today in marathon training
Yesterday I did an easy 40 mins with my new HR monitor - love it & am suddenly very aware of how quickly my HR spikes. We’ll be working on that.
Tomorrow is an easy 70 mins, so we’ll see how that goes. Worked a night court shift last night so will be taking a rest day today so I don’t keel over from exhaustion.
