on a further, separate note, now that im in therapy and taking my system more... seriously? i guess? (i took it seriously anyway but i know what i mean lol) my dissociative symptoms got worse i feel like im becoming More aware of mental barriers and thought process that aren't Me it's like i can start to take the system seriously and actually see my system in a more 'medical' light if that makes any amount of sense
i guess like beyond the system, switching out, amnesia after switching part, i've been largely unaware of other symptoms, as in theyre symptoms i knew i had i just didnt realise them again if that makes any sort of sense - i did get headaches, minor and major timeloss without knowing i switched, feeling unlike myself, dreamlike, lost, all this before starting therapy but now it's like. oh the memory loss is bad and the headaches are bad and the dissociation is bad and the amnesia barriers are bad and the learned behaviours from trauma that don't feel like myself and are probably an alter/influence are bad and it seems like its a whole lot worse than i thought it was!
it's weirdly validating that what i'm experiencing is, in fact, real but at the same time it's like. holy shit how did i not notice the extent this is at before

i feel like stuff i get upset about is what id get upset about when i was 14 and to the same amount and extent and my go to is once again 'i need to cut myself' 'i need to kill myself' and its like nothing else will do or make it feel better
i feel like ive become so sensitive to things again and i genuinely cant figure out if im actually like worse or if im just in a more emotionally supportive relationship so my walls are coming down but that feels like a Threat so i have to have worse, big reactions to things that dont really bother me to protect myself if that makes any sort of sense
like my brain is taking things in the worst way possible to just go see?? see!! people hate you!! everyone hates you!! when that's probably not the case it's just a joke that i can otherwise laugh along with or a behaviour cos someone else is in a bit of a funny mood and it's not personal or something that was just a little in poor taste or x, y, z
what sucks most, is my boyfriend keeps asking me to talk to him, to tell him what's wrong, to let him in, he's basically begging me to, but the thing is i just... cant? i want to tell him but i cant even begin to fathom getting words out, all of my problems feel stupid and immature and like they don't matter, it feels like me having inter/personal issues just pails in comparison to literally anything else anyone else is going through so is pathetic and stupid. and it's nothing fixable its usually stuff that gets better in time so it just feels like im telling people something super embarrassing about myself to get nothing back
and he's said to me before he has little patience for people who are depressed cos he was brought up that he should just get over it so lowkey feels i should do the same and im there like trying so hard to do that but i just cant i just cant get over it and be normal i just have to rot in misery whenever im upset and i cant do anything about it
ive tried going outside, that doesnt work distraction works only some of the time talking to people doesnt really work, i go back to miserable the next day trying to do my regular hobbies anyway doesnt work
i just randomly snap out of it and continue as normal as if nothing happened, but even when im in a better mood i still dont want to talk about whatever was bothering me (if anything) and still cant get the words out
and it is not being able to get the words out. theyre in my mouth but i cant spit them out and i feel like im screaming trying to get someone to fucking understand im not being awkward im not being difficult i am TRYING to tell you whats wrong but i CANT fucking do it im not being toxically masculine and pretending i dont have emotions im not being toxically masculine and trying to tough it out or think im better than 'having emotions' i am TRYING to communicate to people what the problem is but i CANT. FUCKING. DO IT
i feel like the easiest terms to put it in is like when you have an alter that knows something is going to hurt you then mentally blocks you from thinking about and even doing the thing, it feels the exact same here, like someone in there doesn't want me to talk about it and get help and i CANT stop it
i had a childhood of voicing my thoughts = punishment then a 14 year relationship where voicing my emotions = 'we have to fix it' and now after 29 years of being alive voicing emotions seems utterly pointless. i dont get validated i dont feel listened to i dont feel like theres anything that can be done i dont feel like ANYONE can ever empathise with me i dont feel like anyone has any patience for me so when time and time again ive got the message that people dont want to hear it or deal with me, its going to take a bit longer than youd think to feel safe to open up about things cos we have to undo 29 years of denial and lack of validation for my emotions
and ive had moments ive had moments of being able to tell my bf how i feel or that something hes done has upset me or to talk to my ex about big feelings theyve made me have over the past year and a half but it is such a long process that takes days, weeks, months to finally be able to verbalise what the problem is cos i just cant do it as its happening and i have to be thoroughly disassociated from everything, one, and myself to be able to actually voice it

maybe this is insensitive of me but i find it really funny that the human behavioural response to being sufficiently bored and isolated is to devise increasingly creative ways to harm our bodies and risk our lives just to have something to react to. and no small amount of innovation has been achieved this way. yeah sorry but if you don't give me enough treats and puzzles i'm going to start hurting myself for fun.

maybe you did do something wrong. maybe you hurt someone. maybe you have said awful things. maybe you were just as bad as them. maybe. but what matters is that you move on. you have to try. you have to wake up and be kinder. you have to learn and listen and grow. maybe you did do something wrong but that doesn't mean you have to keep doing that. as long as you are alive, you can change
